Sonar X3 is unlimited in that it can have as many tracks as you want and your computer can handle. Same with plugins and MIDI tracks. There is no limitation on how many buses. 
 
Producer has all the available plugins and more PC modules then Studio.
 
If I were starting out and wanted the flagship version I would go with Producer. As it is I have only bought the Producer version going back to Pro Audio.
 
Once on board it easy to stay on board.

Use the same email you used for registration and you should be fine. There's no way to switch it on your end. You could contact customer support and we could try and do it.

I'm pretty sure X3 is unlimited. In X2, I will often run a ton VST instruments, and up to 100+ MIDI tracks without issue.

If you buy X3 producer, you can use 8 modules per track.

Leadfoot, I just put 13 PC modules on a track. I don't think there's a limit. Could be wrong. I don't usually try to put 100s of PC modules on a track, but so far as  I can see you can add all the modules you like.

Some of the modules cannot be inserted twice. Some can. The EQ is one that you only get 1 of.
 
 

I have a synth template w/ over a dozen synths pre-inserted.  that way I can just click and go for my typical home project.  This includes Kontakt, all the Cake stuff, alchemy and some lighter synths (Ugo and other 3rd party).  SONAR Pro can handle an unlimited # of synths and effects.  Can your computer?
