Hi there,

When I import a midi file which includes a tempo  map,  this tempo map doesn't seem to be recognised by Sonar x2.All you get is the midi file with no tempo markers. I looked to see if there were any special options in the preferences but couldn't find anything. Is there a secret to doing this please?

Thanks
Adralicus

I should also add that time sig changes aren't imported either.

in sonar you have to specify tempo map and time signature.

The problem is you imported it to a project. To have its tempo map you need to open it not import it. A project already has a tempo.

MIDI files are a native file format for Sonar X1/X2.

you have to "open" the midi file as a new project first.  choose file/open and select the midi file. this will open it in a new project. then, you copy special all the midi data making sure tempo and key change boxes are checked and then paste special into the project you're working on.

Hi there,

Thanks for your help that method works. What I'm trying to do is import and OMF project which has time signature changes. Because OMF doesn't import time signature changes I wanted to import a midi file with the changes imbedded so that the project would adapt based on the imported midi file.

Yes choosing the "Open" option works perfectly and imports tempo changes as well.
