  • Registering Rapture with Sonar X2 Pro????

Okay, so I have Sonar X2 Pro, and everything that comes with it was loaded correctly. For a while I was able to mess around with Rapture, but now I’m getting a request for registration of the program. Whenever I load it as a soft synth a registration notice will pop up, reflecting the serial number but requesting a registration code. The registration code area is whited out, however, and when I click on the “register” button it takes me to the registration page. All of my information is loaded on that page, and when I submit it I get a message saying the program is already registered…WTF?!?......So, what gives?......
I thought Rapture came with Sonar X2 Pro, but as it stands right now Sonar is saying it needs to be registered and Rapture is saying it’s already registered; yet, either way, it’s not useable at the moment. I can visually see everything in rapture, but there’s no sound. I know it’s not my routing because all the other plugs and soft synths are working fine; plus, when I first loaded everything with Sonar Rapture worked fine…..Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi !

Rapture is installed at the same time as Sonar (as you probably know),
but the serial number is different. and has to be registered individually.
you have a 30 day trial period before being "forced" to register it.

You might want to try to run Sonar as administrator (right click on SONARPDR.EXE --- properties--RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR), then try to register again?

I hope that helps !

Cheers !

Thanks….I’ll attempt the administrator thing, BUT let me point out that Rapture is claiming it’s registered already. So, that’s throwing me off. I’ll request a registration code, and it tells me it’s already registered….man, this is complicated and a PITA.

run rapture as administrator from your desktop(see the icon ?)
register it there.

Okay, I'll try that....what I don't understand is that if it comes with Sonar X2 and it's registered as a package, why make the user go through all this?....It seems so unnecessary.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't rapture have it's own separate install executable? Also, I think I could be wrong but isn't rapture also a product you can purchase separately?  If so, then it would make sense that it has it's own reg process.  It may come as a bundled pack with Sonar, but still needs it's own process.

There are several threads about this. Do a search, maybe in the Synths forum to find the work around.

I’ll have to go back tonight and double check, but I think Rapture loads with Sonar upon installation. I don’t believe there was a separate CD for that program in the bundles…that’s what I recall anyway.

As for it being available as a separate program and that somehow being the rationale behind it being difficult to register, the same should logically apply to Session Drummer, Breverb and many of the other Cakewalk/Roland sponsored plugins and soft synths, right?....because many of them can be purchased separately.  Yet, they’re not…they load right up just fine…so, I'm not sure I follow this line of reasoning, but if worse comes to worse, I'll get on the phone with a rep. In the meantime, I'll try reloading tonight.

Thanks again,

because rapture was sold as a separate item in the past. Also the fact you can use it elsewhere (in your other daws).. doing extra coding /testing is more un-necessary vs 1 user taking 1 minute to put in the codes for it :) .. the latter is far quicker.

Yeah but again, a lot of the other plugins and soft synths that come bundled with X2 Pro are also sold separately (Session Drummer, Pro Channel, Breverb, etc.) Actually, I think there’s something like 7 or 8 that are sold separately, but they register with Sonar upon installation. I even registered Rapture when I was initially prompted to do so during my initial installation a couple of months back, and apparently, the registration is showing up on Rapture’s side. The problem is Sonar isn’t recognizing it. So, I’m confused, and I don’t really know what the issue is. Sonar says I need to register, but I already did. Rapture won’t let me register because I already did…..you see the problem here?…..(banging head against the wall)….;  )
