  • So not directly Sonar related but man does BREVERB 2 rule (p.2)

Breverb has been outstanding for the vocals on my stuff. Love it.

I really like it, yeah. There's a view that says convulsion reverbs replace these kind of digital reverbs. Me, I don't think anything ever replaces anything. I think the palette just gets broader. I wouldn't want to be without either type. Breverb doesn't sound "real" like convolution verbs do, but real isn't always what you're looking for.

I guess the full version must be way better than the lite version that is bundled with Sonar then, because when I've tried to find a useable verb for vocals it just sounds disgusting.  Keep going back to Sonitus verb for quick results, or a convolution verb for better results.

Good post to read.

I bought the full bundle deal upgrade last year, which included 5 full version plugs from Overloud, but I haven't spent any real time with Breverb yet.

Good to see such great results.

I'll have to load it up again and really go at it.

The only problem with the Prochannel module is it only works on the included version, not the full one.

I never upgraded Breverb, but very much like its performance. But I also like throwing it into the ProChannel so did not realize Sycraft's point. I may not have the best workflow, since most plugins I pop open only when tweaking them, and then close them to save real-estate, but in ProChannel I can monitor better.

When you say "find a usable verb", do you mean looking through the presets? Because in that case, I'd agree, the presets are as bad as presets generally are. But if you set it flat and work from there, it's really fairly amazing.

I will have to take a fresh look.  I've probably tried the presets to see if anything took my fancy and been so turned off that I wrote it off.  It never ceases to amaze me how bad presets end up representing products so poorly.

I feel that convolution has fallen out of fashion these days. Algortimic verbs that emulate or build on old digital machines (like Breverb, Relab, Valhalla Vintage Verb etc.) are all the rage. I'm happy with the algorithmic rennaisance as I never really got on with convolution!

Like a lot of people I was blown away by convolution reverb at first.  I have since returned to the likes of Breverd, but still use convolution reverb when I want the sound of an instrument in a real space.

More often now, though, I find that an algorithmic reverb will sit better in the mix.

I tend to use the convolution for things like making everything sound like it is in the same room, or making things sound like they are in a real space.  I use the algorithmic reverbs when I want it to sound like reverb.

I am starting to really like Breverb.  I can't say the same for the Blue Tubes reverb, which is a shame because I like all the other effects in that series.
