I recorded some performance format of my MX49, and that file contain
all the midi-data in one file ( format 0 )

So i suggested if i saved it as midi format 1, it would be separated
to different tracks, when reopened the file again
But no...

What is a simple way to split a format 0 midifile in sonar to midi format 1 ?
in sonar !

I think there is a cal script in sonar that does it

CAL script, tried it, dont work...

Sonar should had an option in the midi (tab )
to Split Midifile ;-)

I have always just "saved as" midi 1-closed the file and reopened in Sonar (most versions going way back) and that was all?

That is what i thought also... cant figure this out.
maybe there is an software that can split midi 0 files.
But a " pro " program like Cakewalk, was made for midi and audio, should do that
without problem .... Duhhh

This is the info in the Sonar Reference File.

SPLIT CHANNEL TO TRACKS.cal This program splits a track by channel into 16 new tracks. This can be useful for Type 0 MIDI files, which may have data recorded on many channels but only one track. To use the program 1.Select only one track.
2.Set the From and Thru markers for any part of the track (you don’t have to split the whole track).
3.Run the Split Channel to Tracks.cal program. SONAR displays a dialog box.
4.Select the first track for the 16 split-channel tracks (preferably, the first of 16 blank tracks).
5.Click OK

It's the same in X1, 2, & 3 just checked it myself. Will now check open and save as the other format.

Opening Type 0 and saving as Type 1 also works but it's important to not only select all tracks but also the timeline from beginning to end of the file or data you want saved.

Also works in X1, 2 & 3 as described above.
