First after crashing about a bit, am tickled to death(poor words when 70) with X3 system.....LOL

Need to know how to assign each midi channel to specific VSTi.
OR insure a VSTi is assigned to specific midi channel.
Confused on above to lines.

Thank you in advance!

So what is it you wish to know specifically? How to assign a MIDI track to a VSTi?

Yes!

Would like to load a midi.  Know how to do....
Then load VSTi for each midi track.  Know how to do....

Insure correct VSTi with its voicing is assigned to correct midi track.
"Grey area here".

If you have a VSTi inserted there's usually already a MIDI + Audio (synth) created, or an Instrument Track, but if not check where your MIDI track's Output is pointing.   Assuming, of course, that when you say "a MIDI channel" you mean the channel setting on an existing MIDI track.

Wirh Sonar open prwaa F1 to bring up the help file. There are.a.number.of very well explained tutorials which may help. The Content folder has the necessary sample files.

Normally post clear questions. You have to know what to ask and how.
Failed a bit there.

I will be taking previously created midi and load into X3.
Next step want to do is to select and assign VSTi instance for each midi track.

Am able to fumble, and bang around to get this done, but wanted
clear guide or steps to do this.

Stevec,
Based on your info:
1. Will load the multi-track midi.
2. Will use browser and load the VSTi wanted for each track.
3. Click on midi track number so Inspector displays its channel information at its bottom.
4. Click inspector bottom window, then select VSTi needed for that track.
5. Do step 3 & 4 for each midi track with its needed VSTi.
Think that gets me to a needed point.

Mike V,
Do not understand prwaa.
Based on other software uses, would guess its a location within X3 for F1 to use
what help screen is pulled.
Did hit F1 and got the tracks help screen.  Then also the INDEX, somehow in my
mental wrestling matches.  Will spend some extra time and explore and review some
of the index contents.
Thanks to you both!

Yup, that's it.   As long as the MIDI track's output is pointing to the right VSTi and it's channel is set appopriately, you should be good to go.
