  • X2 to X3 discount after a few mths--Am I Off Base???

So I bought X2 Upgrade June 31. Then X3 comes out a few months later. Is it unrealistic for me to expect some type of discount seeing as I have only had X2 for a few months? I did reach out to customer service and asked. I basically got the "tough luck for you". I have spent well over $1000.00 with CW over the years. I would think they would take care of my request.

I'm not paying $149 after just paying $100 a few mths prior.

Maybe I'm wrong thinking that. Just curious on everybody else thoughts.

Thanks

This topic has come up many times since X3 was released.   And always the problem is what qualifiies as "recently purchased"?   It's a line that can never be set to everyone's satisfaction.   Plus, CW has always had that same 30 day (or so) grace period, so nothing's really changed from any previous upgrade.

You obviously wanted X2 and presumably thought the price you paid was worth it. You don't have to buy X3 - X2 will not stop working if you don't.
It was also reasonably obvious to any regular CW customer that X3 would be released roughly about now, especially as X2 was being increasingly discounted over the last few months, so personally I don't think they are obliged to give you anything. A little homework sometimes helps, but not always. Supply & demand - those are the breaks.

OK.. ya I'm not all upset and ready to slice my wrist over it by any means. Just wanted some feedback to keep myself in check. You guys have valid points. I have bought every upgrade since the early Cakewalk days so, I should have known better. Maybe I buy X3 next July (joke)..
Thanks for responding....

No problem.

I believe some are waiting for the first sale, probably in time for the holidays, since that's also a fairly consistent thing.

Cakewalk have lots of sales but upgrade specials are usually only just before release of new versions.

jazz, you must have your account set to not accept private messages.

I would say that you should contact support or pm one of the helpful bakers and make your case.  The worst that can happen is they say no and you wait for the sale.

It's always been some kinf of payable release every year as far as I remember - so we all know what to expect. Something happends between sept-dec of new releases.

They skipped the "buy x2 get x3 for free" thingy this time. I looked for that.

I think the best way is to see the discount in summer as your discount for x3. After all Cake's upgrade costs are very reasonable - and I'd like to say generous as well.

Look at Microsoft for a bit. Buying upgrades of windows cost 3-5 times what you pay for OEM version on a new computer. Office, Word or Excel cost something like 40% of new full price every upgrade.

Why not get use to X2 first.  Cakewalk will not disappoint in offering a very affordable upgrade eventually. I upgraded x1 to x2 for $79.
