Basradaem
Hey all. Here's another tune from my "Basradaem" project called Lost. This song doesn't yet have vocals. I have a version with scratch vocals but I'm not posting that since they were really rough and the lyrics have changed since then. I'm hoping to have vocals on this soon...

EDIT:
I made a bunch of changes and posted a new version. I left the old one up for comparison if anyone wants to hear the difference:

Lost (new version)
Lost (old version)

Also I forgot to mention that all instruments are synthesizers.

Enjoy.

Hi Luke,

I've just listened to Lost.

What do you use for all the different guitar parts?

Nice piece by the way...

cheers

Really like what you have so far. Mix is sounding good. Looking forward to hearing the vocals.

Very well mixed, I think! Except for the snare, it's getting lost behind the wall of chugga. The snare sounds good tonally, I'd like to hear it more!

I'd like to see how you edited this, there must be a heavy gate on your rhythm guitar!

cheers,

Hi Tom,

I'm interested in the whole process... I'm trying to create a guitar track using Strum and Guitar Rig to provide the "rhythm" guitar parts. I'm guessing that it's not gate as such, unless it is provided within the VSTi that Luke is using. That's assuming this piece is created using VSTi like Luke's last song Fractured.

It would be interesting to hear back...

cheers

Hey Basradaem,

I really like the sound of this track. I agree that snare is getting a bit lost under those dense guitars. I am thinking parallel compressing/distorting it to bits would help increase its RMS and help it come through a bit more in this mix. Going from there, you'd have to see how it fits in with the rest of mix. It's quite dense, and bringing it forward could potentially be quite a challenge. If you have Alloy 2, you could potentially use the multi-band compressor to have a relatively narrow band in the high mids duck ever so slightly when the snare hits. Overall, it sounds awesome, good job on this.
