  • [ANSWERED] X3b VST3 bug docking in multidock - does not redraw full surface background

Reproduce:
1. Dock any VST3 effect or instrument in multidock, in my case I have only Waves.
2. Shift to consol tab and then back, the console will remain.
You already see while tab created is active you get popup window remains as well as anything in background.
Only the exact space occupied by plugin is redrawn.

VST2 effects and instruments though works fine. Clears to nice background of workspace.

I have a Nvidia GeForce 210 card with latest drivers if that matters.
W7 Pro, i7-860 2.8GHz, 8G ram.

Can anybody else confirm, please?

I should add, I did not test this in X3a, so it might be that way for a while.

Thanks.

Confirmed here, with all my Waves plugs. Doesn't happen with CA2A, which is also VST3.

Excellent, thank you.

Then I might avoid getting the usuall - this is probably a system specific issue, please contact support if - making problem report.

Real good, then it's Waves-related.

But in your case, is it prochannel version?

Prochannel is more customized to be docked with multiple plugs if I understand it right.

I have the Cakewalk Prochannel pack, but with it comes also a VST2 and VST3 version of CA-2A.

Thanks.
Wasn't that about using Waves VST2 and 3 simulateneously?

It's not what I did anyway. Any Waves VST3 create redrawing issue.
Any other brand, since all Waves are VST3 as well, were used as VST2, instrument or effect - and VST2 works and clear background.

I have all the VST2 versions of Waves hidden - both manually in pluginmanager and as that checkbox saying to hide same VST2 stuff.

And in my case plugins were freshly added - not migrated in project from before. All done in X3a and X3b.

No crashes or anomalies in audio.

Please fill in your situation to help Cake out narrowing this down.

I filed a link to this topic in my problem report.

Yep, confirmed here as well. As above, only with Waves. The symptom doesn't manifest with Softube stuff.

Guys, I read this post before I upgraded to X3b, so I thought it might be a good chance to test whether it existed in X3a.  Mine worked just fine.  No glitches at all.  So I installed the X3b patch and expected it to mess up.  But it works just fine in X3b, too.  I loaded and docked 5 different Waves plugins and they always cleared when I went to the Console tab and came back when I went back to their tabs.  For what its worth, here are my system specs.

AMD Phenom II  Quad Core  3.4 Ghz
8 gb memory
Windows 8
Nvidia GTX 660 graphics card with 2 gb mem
Maudio 2496 PCI audio card.

I wonder if the graphics card is making a difference ?  Mine is fairly good because of using Autodesk products.

Anyway, I thought I would let you know that it works on some systems.
