  • Saving projects to my E drive, setup?

I have my projects saved to my E drive with the save audio per project checked. My global folder is on the C drive. When I installed X3 it changed my settings with everything back to my C drive so...Is the project extension (cwp) the only thing I need to save to the E drive? I went to look at how I had X2 setup but, those had changed too. I'm not sure where my audio folder is. If I have save audio per project checked it should be saved with the cwp in the E drive I would think.

I always make sure the audio is set to that drive also (E drive) just to make sure I don't inadvertently fill up my c drive! :)

I use mklink /j as final insurance that nothing project related gets on the c: drive. My "Cakewalk Projects" directory is on E: so after deleting "C:\Cakewak Projects"; I executed the following command from the cmd line:
mklink /j "C:\Cakewalk Projects" "E:\Cakewalk Projects"

I also change the Preferences > File > File Locations "Project Files" and Preferences > File > Audio Data "Global Audio Folder" to the same location "E:\Cakewalk Projects".

A Cakewalk project is in it's own folder on "E:\Cakewalk Project". For example, a new project "My Project" would create:
E:\Cakewalk Projects\My Project - a directory containing the .cwp file
E:\Cakewalk Projects\My Project\Audio - a directory containing the audio for My Project.

This is the on I was talking about. You blew my mind with the other one. :)

Makes since. On my E drive there are only folders with the name of project. I click on one and it opens to reveal the cwp file and the audio file. Yesterday I did a "save as" and the new project only had the cwp file. Thanks for the info guys!
I believe my global audio fold was on my E drive before install. I probably missed the prompt asking me where I wanted this to be.
