Sad news. An amazing songwriter and poet. Sadly I never acquired a taste for his voice though. My favourite version of "Hallelujah" was Rufus Wainright's

Wow, his so-called manager "managed" to embezzle $5 million from his retirement fund?  Damn...  RIP Leonard!

I stumbled out of bed
I got ready for the struggle
I smoked a cigarette
And I tightened up my gut

I said this can't be me,
Must be my double

..and I can't forget (I can't forget)
I can't forget (I can't forget)
I cant forget but I don't remember what

Last two tracks from that album are going on right now!

Before I was a musician and knew what to listen for, the first Cohen song I heard was Everybody Knows. I instantly connected with the mix as much as the song itself, it shifted my musical tastes completely, and led me to the rest of his amazing repertoire.

RIP Mr Cohen.

For those who may be unfamiliar with Mr. Cohen, please enjoy this well-recorded 2009 performance with an incredible band.

Just read a Rolling Stone article on him. Like Bowie, working right up to the end.

He was a truly great writer. If the voice puts you off, I highly recommend Jennifer Warren's Famous Blue Raincoat album. Some of his best songs sung by an amazing singer.
