Hi all. The VC 64 was a popular plugin that is no longer available. At least not to my knowledge. The Waves SSL Channel Strip seems to be very popular now and I've demoed one but haven't purchased. I don't care for the presets and am trying to match my favorite VC64 preset, the Master Mix. I'm curious if anyone has done a serious side-by-side comparison with the SSL and the VC64 and has gotten the settings on the SSL to match, or at least to sound close, to the Master Mix preset in the VC64 preset.

Thanks in advance.

Cakewalk shouldn't have stopped selling the Pro-channel plugins. I still want to buy them.

If you have an older version of Sonar you can still install and use VC-64 main issue is that it is 32 bit but it still works.

The developer of the VC64 ran into some heavy criminal/legal issues in his country so I doubt there will be any further development of the plu-in. I used to love sing it on buses, it had a warm fat sound to it.

I have the Waves SSL pack.  Back in the day our studios all had SSL E series desks so I like the familiarity for both the eq as well as the master compressor.  However, I do find the more visual approach of things like the pro-channels generally easier to use.  The SSL G series channels have pretty viscous eq, and I normally prefer the E, but they can be very surgical.  The channel comp and gate are also very good, and I always did like the red leds on the real world desks so it takes me back to 1989!

My favorite is the SSL G bus compressor. not sure what I would do with out it.

The VC 64 was a great plug in for its time but like many other plug ins, sometimes its not how great the plug in is... its what you can milk out of them.

I still use the VC 64 on vox.  I can't seem to replicate its mojo anywhere else.  I just use jbridge and have had no issues.
