  • Addictive Drums not installable on offline PCs-Workaround possible?

When you download Addictive Drums, it seems you only download an INSTALLER.

Whe you copy it to your production PC and start it, it tries to connect to the internet.

Strange.

We also use Celemony and Izotope products, and they respect offline installation.

So no Addictive Drums for us, I guess. :(

Anyone else facing the same problem?

Is there any way around this?

Yes, this is one big PITA... if you contact AD support, they have a real convoluted work around on their registration process and download updates.

I finally gave in and added wireless to my DAW and all is well now.

I gave in and connected my main machine to internet a couple of years ago - does make life so much easier - just make sure you've got got virus software  -I use AVG Free which seem pretty good

I've just sent a message to their support asking how to do offline installations. I imagine they may be getting a few more. CW should be making this clearer rather than just saying...buy x3 get AD. That's marketing guys for you, never quite give you the whole picture.

I haven't made the X3 purchase yet but I was also looking forward to adding AD to EZ and BFD Eco.  And I don't have an internect connection on my DAW.   So I will certainly be keeping an eye on this one.

I had posted this in another thread.

How to move Addictive Drum data from one computer to another

The XLN installer basically forced all users to download AD directly into their DAW computer. I have figure out a work around to that and I would like to share this to help fellow Sonarian!

AD is installed in three different location in my computer. I am using windows 7 64 bit. The program files was installed in Program files(x86) > XLN Audio. The AD sound samples is stored here and it is 1.21Gig in size. The 64 bit AD vst itself is installed in Program Files> Cakewalk>Vstplugins>Addictive Drum.dll. The third file is preset setting folder in the Document>Addictive Drums. Copy this 3 files/folder into the same location of your second computer. Then load AD in Sonar X3. Click beats tab and click refresh library. Have fun!
