I added Tape Emulator to Master Bus to a song I'm composing today.  Listen test files (44.1 kHz, 16 bit WAV) here:

Interesting. I had to put my headphones on and I heard a slight difference. The 15 ips sounded best to me. It had a nice warm sound to it compared to a little bit of harshness on the sample with no effects added. Either way it sounded very good, nice job !!

On the clean Telecaster guitar track Tape Emulation softened ice peaks more efficiently than in Master Bus.
My initial impression: subtle enough effect to my taste (until you turn Rec Level knob to 10).

I found it to sound great on finger-picked acoustic guitars as well as piano.

Compared to the console emulation I hear much, much more effect (on my setup) which seems reasonable. I haven't really spent hours with it yet, but it seemed nice on a piano plug, not so much on a vocal recording with a tube preamp/compressor already on it. Can definitely see me using it to warm up in the box stuff, but it should probably be used sparingly.

Tape Emulation gave me good results on a ballad bass track, too.
I like this plug-in way more than Softube Saturation knob because volume match option makes it easy to evaluate effect.

GUI could be a bit smaller. Why waste valuable space to nonsense graphics (static reels). I know, I know...
- Because it looks cool.

Now if those reels were turning.... well....   can we get a feature request here ?

BTW - thanks for posting the clips.  Very nice!

I was actually going to do a post on this plug as well, but I guess I'll tag on here.

For layering guitar parts? I am loving the different flavours it can apply to tones! I'm actually finding it most useful for breaking up multiple instances of the same guitar sound and using the tape emulator to add subtle textural differences. Making them appear similar but not the same, despite coming from an identical source.

Huh... I like that.  I usually use EQ for that purpose, but I'm thinking this may work as well or possibly better.

All I need now is X3!

I wonder how X3 tape compares to Waves Kamer Master Tape which I use a lot. Anybody have both?
