I get this graphical error often when I switch screen sets. As you can see in the attached screenshot: the console is showing where there should be the step sequencer as indicated by the strange 'step sequencer' artifacts in the corners.
 
Has anyone else experienced this?

Watching this with interest, I had bundles of problems with screensets in X2, fingers crossed non so far in X3.

For my PC which more than exceeds mininimum requirements I do find it to be quite graphics intensive.

I haven't been able to reproduce this.  How heavy of a session do you have running?

Thank you for your interest in this issue. The project I was using was a template project; essentially empty save for a few tracks.
 
Unfortunately I can't seem to reproduce this error on a consistent basis so I might have to attribute this to 'one of those things' that can't be explained.
 
If there's anything more I can do to help, please let me know.

OK I've found a way to reproduce this error. If I switch screensets after launching x3, without doing anything else, then the screenset doesn't load properly.
