  • [2nd Update: Request Granted and Delivered] Request for Overloud Sonar version products to be made VST

I just wrote this to Overloud,

"In Light of Cakewalk closing down. Many Sonar users are looking to migrate to another DAW. It is sad that they cannot take their very much loved th3, Breverb and Rematric with them. Perhaps I would like to suggest that overloud provide a special for Sonar users. A nominal fee for vst version of their Sonar/Overloud product and upgrade price for the full version."

Those of you who feel the same way could you please make the same request to overloud at https://overloud.com/contacts. Perhaps if there are enough number of request Overloud might just decided to do that?

Good idea musichoo and thanks for doing this. I have done the same and asked them to post any offers in the Software subforum.

I will especially miss Breverb 2 if and when Sonar no longer works.
Cheapest upgrade for Breverb 2 currently is around $83 in cart from JRRSHOP with free Galaxy X-FX ( https://www.jrrshop.com/overloud-breverb-2 )

I have already received a reply from Overloud, so fingers crossed...

Thank you for your suggestion, we are working to find a solution about this sad issue.

That's great news, ZincTrumpet!

Still I made another request to Overloud. The more asking, the better the odds...

Done. Great idea. Losing Breverb is one of the more depressing thoughts about all this..

Same applies to EFX like NOMAD, RGC:AUDIO, PEAVEY and Cakewalks own EFX like Adaptive Limiter etc??

All popping up with Sonar only or throttled / bypassed if opened.

I think most likely scenario is offer of reduced upgrade to stand alone product. It would seem odd for them to devote manhours to unlocking programs for free. Very cool if they did but unlikely.

Yes .. was thinking the same myself. I reckon we might get an offer from Overloud etc but it will involve ponying up.

Cake paid these 3rd party plugs for use with SONAR.  And any company worth their salt won't want to piss off potential customers that are already using and liking their products.  But to expect them to give you their product for free because of Cakewalk's bad business decisions is a bit much.  It would be pretty to think so, but that is not usually the way the world works.

As stated above, I imagine the third party software will make an honest attempt to keep us as discount-paying customers, but feeling sorry for Cake users will only put them in the same economic boat as Cake if they give away their product.
