Windows has been trying to upgrade me to 1709 this month. After so many Remind Me Later clicks it finally tried to force it on me. The only way to stop it was to cut internet access. It still nags me every time I boot up but it's dead in the water without internet. I suspect there's a built in revolt mechanism that in time will either try to force an internet connection or completely shut down all together. Once I decide it needs internet, the upgrade will be inevitable.
 
Either way, I now use a Windows 7 machine for internet.

That's my basic plan now too, I like the way you put it :)

dude, just disconnect from the internet. I've had serious problems with Windows updates in the past and Sonar. The only way to avoid this is to just disconnect. Microsoft is as bad as malware these days.

I think that's what I said but I may need to re-read my post.

@soens you did, but it still can't be reiterated enough. I can't believe people are still keeping their PCs online while running Sonar Platinum. Especially the OP, as I know he uses a lot of MIDI and VSTs like I do.

Once I get reinstalled on my new pc (I think I got another month to go at my pace), I'm calling it quits to GAS as best I can, and moving my studio to the living room completely off the grid :)
