Q: I just have question for Cakewalk. Does the PRO Channel now use VST3 extension or still programed and based on old VST2.4?
Prochannel modules use VST2 based extensions currently. We plan on releasing a VST3 version of the prochannel SDK if there is developer demand. So far nobody has asked for one.
A vst3 version of this won't have any benefits as such since most of the PC functionality is not covered by VST3 and would still need to be an extension. As such it would be the same in a new package thats all.
But if vedors are already working in VST3 then it could be beneficial.
Regarding VST3 folders, the standard seems to be to put them in Program files\common files\Vst3
>>Vienna Instruments {multi MIDI ports currently not working in X3}
Its not so much that it doesn't work in X3 due to a problem, but that SONAR doesn't have multiple MIDI ports for Virtual instruments in general. We'd have to add some infrastructure to do that. Its worthwhile doing so we'll look into it.
Most VST3's only support a small subset of the VST spec (which is pretty normal). The fabfilter ones a fairly full fledged with their support and have parameter groups etc. I have yet to come across a single VST3 that supports built in presets though.
