Perhaps the X1 re-write helped but I have to say that X3 has been the most stable major release ever.... the enhancements are fantastic, the upgrade price was a little steep and I feel bad for some of the long time users that have to sit on the sidelines due to budget constraints.

It took me a week to decide - but after playing with it and banging on it for a few days I have to agree.
It feels really solid - not like the versions before where I felt like I was walking on glass.   Would love to have the inner scoop on what they did, but somebody spent some real time improving the core so that it's just more robust and (IMHO) it just feels more responsive.

Took me awhile to decide, too, but I am completely blown away by ease of use and stability of the entire X3 package.

I felt the price was very reasonable.

Hmm - the comments above give me pause for thought....Is Sonar FINALLY ready for live use? I for one would be very happy for this to be so.

Every time I've gone to a show where the band is using computers, they fail. That's in small venues with weekend warriors. I see Peter Gabriel in concert and there's several computers being used and they never fail. Never could figure that out. I'd go out on a limb and say this X3 update is as ready for stage as Sonar has ever been.

High end live shows like that usually run multiple parallel systems. Failures do happen, it's just that they have backups already rolling.

Funniest thing I've ever heard in my life, though, was at an open air show in Manchester, about 20,000 capacity. Sound of the Windows error box DONK! blaring over the loudest sound system you can imagine. Fortunately during a soundcheck.

HA, now that is funny

( I am still sorting out using LIVE - but if Sonar is stable now, then it is sooo much more familiar and less to learn. Yep that's my lazy side shining through  )

+10000 also!!

For the first time ever, I had a smooth upgrade and open/close X3b pretty much "at will" without a single hang up or crash (yet). I consider myself more an "avid hobbyist," so crashes in previous versions would lead me to step away from any DAW work for days or even weeks at a time. I find the stability of X3b quite impressive and is allowing me to learn much more.
