Isn't it amazing that there's so much old and new knowledge out there, with so many "You should know this by now" or "RTFM" moments, and yet, despite the fact that "Split Note to Tracks" has been with us since PA8 or so (I think)  - - most forum members give this type of knowledge with ease and graciousness.
 
Thank you scook.  And thank you all forum members who remember when you were learning the basics.

No doubt!  I have owned SONAR since 8.5 (which constantly crashed on me), and I have had X2 for a short while (which was much more stable), but in all of my learning I have never even loaded a CAL script.  I'm thankful for SCook, and all of the others here for their patience and guidance as I (and others) spin up.  X3 is just rock solid, and may be the build that makes me sell off Cubase for good!  I also have Studio One Pro, but X3 is proving to be my "go to" DAW for day to day playing.

I have to say, the community here seems to be nice. They either try to answer your question usefully, or do not respond if they don't know the answer, or don't care to take the time. Very little of the self superior "RTFM" or "What a noob" type stuff. It is really nice.

This last while folks have been softening up quite a bit, that is much more pleasant
and helpful.
 
Anyway, not knowing any better I loaded a type 0 midi into system and it
automatically split the tracks.  Didn't know, and it worked fine.

We were guilty of that in the past when CW shipped a paper manual with the program. We stopped doing that when it became clear that it was a in PDF format and not always available when the software was released. 
 
It also dawned on us that one may not know the terms used to look up an answer.  Besides if you write RTFM to some one asking a simple question it could be perceived as rather hostile and took up almost as much time and words as the actual answer.   
 
Also with the paper manual it was a way to be sure the poster had bought the program. Now there really is no good way to be sure of that and it really isn't our job to check anyway.
 
Now in a way its how fast a post is answered that matters. I for one will admit I like to be the first to answer. I know a few others also like to be first. So there is a bit of sport in quickly answering with a good full answer. There are no points for being first. 
 
We don't bother with notions who is "worthy" and who isn't anymore. I think we care more about being accurate and true than anything else. 
 
What we see is a forum that has gone through a lot of changes through the years and I believe is better for it. 
 
Really its all of you that come and answer questions with grace that are making this forum a better forum. 
 
I was reading the thread by Keni and how members have gathered around him to support him. I was proud of what members did in that thread. Not because I had anything to do with it but rather I was proud to be a part of this forum because of what had occurred there. 
 
I hope that sort of behavior will continue long after the bloom is off the new release.
 
Being polite is not all that hard and in the end it leaves us all a little better off.

Kidding aside, it seems like a truly unique Cakewalk feature. Wouldn't it make sense to nurture a feature like this and make it do things that other Daw's couldn't? I don't even think about it during an install. Is there even a forum for it?
 
Doh! Better go check it out. I'm also behind in my Turbo Pascal reading.
