I started out with Pro Audio 4 and I have since upgraded/purchased PA5,6,7,8,9,SONAR XL, SONAR 3,4,5,6,7,8,8.5,X1 and X2.
(note, somehow I skipped SONAR 2).

Fortunately, I was really only charged $149 for X3.

I think, just for the fun of it, you should go back to Pro Audio 4.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I can't work out what your point is.

I never had 2" tape. I only ever owned a TASCAM 80-8 (8 tracks on 1/2 tape).

The first step is admitting you have the addiction...

I think your estimate is low. That is only an average of $80 per purchase/upgrade. Might make sense if in the early days the upgrades were very inexpensive. But really, how much other software did you purchase to go with Sonar? I mean, where were you going to plugin all those plugins into if not Cakewalk software? That is rhetorical, I really don't want to know where you were going to plug those in to :-)

My first sequencer was Hybrid Arts running on an Atari 130 XE.

I then moved to the Atari 1040 ST.   Whew,,, I thought that was the address to be, since the Atari had built in MIDI ports.  I synced it to a Tascam open reel four track.  I had a DX-7, a TX81z, a Roland D110, an Ensoniq Mirage and a Roland 707 drum machine.  I think that system set me back something like $6,000.

I moved to Cakewalk at Pro Audio 8.
