Yes LOCK it , also the " problem threads " for X2 and X3
cause ther aint a problem at all, is it ? , just imagination.

Pffft..

CW has already stated that X3 is their only direction going forward.  So this thread probably wouldn't be an issue if it could actually stay focused on the OP's issues running X2a, rather than opinions about what CW should or should have not done.  Because obviously that's not really going to help the OP use the product he purchased, is it?

As some members have pointed out, it's worth identifying that the issues outlined by the OP are configuration issues and not "bugs". An update to SONAR X2 or an upgrade to SONAR X3 will not address these issues because they are not issues with the application. Why are we all not focusing on that instead?

If your computer goes to sleep, your PC is disabling power to connected devices. This is extremely common. If a device is not connected, SONAR can't enable drivers for it because the device is not there. As a result, you'll lose your settings. This isn't specific to SONAR, this happens with computers and music applications in all varieties. Proper configuration is a necessary step in all professional recording applications.

One thing I personally always do on my production machines is to go into the Device Manager and disable power saving settings for USB ports and devices.

JimmyBoy, definitely give the guys here on the forum a chance to assist and/or definitely give our Tech Support guys a ring if you get the chance. Contact info here: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/contact/default.aspx

We can definitely help you troubleshoot those types of symptoms.  BTW, regarding the error on the website, it looks like a redirect was taken down. I'll fix that. Sorry for the confusion on that!

Amen Brother.

There are no plans for SONAR X2b. I know that's not what you want to hear but I also don't want you to think we are ignoring you. SONAR X3b is the latest version of SONAR. I understand your point and we are working hard to try and make SONAR better for all customers.

From everything I've read over the last year or so since I upgraded to X2a from X1d, including the many complaints about & pleadings to Cakewalk, an all-around fair compromise to me would have been this:

Offer X3 as an improved update - just simply 'bare bones' as any other update, (as some are referring to it now), for anywhere from free to say no more than $30.00, with no new extras or instruments included whatsoever, possibly with the exception of the color enhancements that so many have asked [begged] for, for so long.

Then, for to those who desire, add a 2nd option of the current X3 upgrade (not update), just as it has been released - including all the goodies, Melodyne, ADrums, AS & LL, plus all the 'new features', etc. etc. for the current fees, $49, 99, 149 - for those who wish to move ahead/up one level.

Now from a business point of view, that might have cost more than a 'small company' could afford, but to me that would have been the most ethical thing to do, considering this last year's overall schmozzle of unhappiness.

Besides that, losing how many ??? customers due to frustrations, waiting endlessly for fixes & updates as given with X1a-d, and therefore expected & anticipated for X2a...and tolerating Cake's 'brick wall' of continued silence up until just a week or two ago - wouldn't that all have been worth avoiding?

1. Loyal, patient customers could have been rewarded with some fixes & improvements at little or no cost [$30], which most said they would have paid for;
2. More dollars could have stayed within this 'small company' instead of jumping ship & going elsewhere in the meantime, all the while X3 was being worked on, again in complete & total silence.

Can't help but feel this would have been the best option(s) for the customer base at large, and would have given more credence to this statement above:

...and we are working hard to try and make SONAR better for all customers...

Lastly, I think that increasing the upgrade cost by 50% - to $149 from the usual $99 is a bit of a slap in the face to all those who've waited ever so patiently.

If anything, I would have expected it to be slightly reduced as a sort of 'humble apology to the faithful' - say $79 or so.

Don't get me wrong - I have the money.
$149 vs. $99 doesn't make a dent either way for me - but it's the principal of the matter.

I'm sure most of us on the forum  wishes this could have been, I would have been happy to give them more of my money/ would have upgraded sooner(as I do see myself upgrading/ but now not till 4, as of now my moneys going to another DAW) and maybe even some of this bickering would have been lessened. at the same time I know CW had to prove itself to it's new owners, coming out with a new version and making more money is one way, it is business after all. And if it will keep them around I'm willing to wait and see what transpires.

Yup - good points!

And as a fellow businessman, you'd think I'd remember to keep that in the foreground.

I guess I just focus on seeing happy customers as repeat customers. When some flee elsewhere, it causes me to wonder why and how it could have been prevented.

I actually have few customers that insist on paying me more than I ask them for when the times comes to present the bill, if you can believe it.

So customer satisfaction is everything to me.

That's not to say that X3 won't satisfy, as it seems to be off to a good start for those who chose to bite.

But I too shall pass on it.
