Hi People,

I am recommending a fantastic, simple, and FREE VST Reverb.
DX Reverb Light.
http://www.anwida.com/product.asp?pid=7

I use it as a bus reverb for vocals, and I must say it is a beautiful clear reverb effect just like I have heard on many a commercial mix. Please note that a lot of my work is done in the style of the Singer/Songwriters of the late 60's/70's, as ballads with very clear vocals and simple arrangements featuring acoustic guitar. (Don McLean, Cat Stevens, James Taylor).

In particular, preset #15 called "EchoVerb" works beautifully.
Place it in a buss and pan it to the side a bit, and you will have a truly professional result.... especially when your vocals are uncluttered by a big production.

regards,
Adrian.

Good call!  Very nice, thanks!

Just tried your suggested #15 "EchoVerb", as well as the #12 "Long tail" on the u-he synth, TyrellN6 v3, patch "Bladerunner".  Sweetens it up nicely!

I opened up a (Studio One) session that had Reverberate in it on the vocals and after putting this free reverb in its place it did not sound anywhere near as good. To be expected I guess.

There is no tone control over this plug so I found putting an EQ in before and after this plugin helps a lot. The pre EQ can be setup in a way as to not let frequencies in that wont do much good and the post EQ is great for some final tone shaping. Once you do this it sounds much better.

Have you tried the TAL Reverb II (FREE)?  It has 3 band EQ, room size, pre-delay, stereo width, dry & wet faders.

There are also some other free goodies on that site including other effects plugins such as chorus, as well as various analog synth plugins.

Thanks abacab TAL looks good too.  I am not so much in the market for freebies as I have a few decent reverbs right now but once you put the EQ before and after DX Reverb Light it performs better for me and has much more control.  I tend to put an EQ before and after reverbs in quite a few cases actually, it can really help things along.  Especially the EQ before.  Great for only letting into the room the stuff you actually want reverberated.  This is an under rated technique.  It can really improve and clean things up bigtime reverb wise.

Thanks for the tip on the EQ technique!  Had not heard that one before.  May come in handy
