  • Add "Flyout" feature for non-ProChannle effects that are wrapped in PC bin

I would like to be able to incorporate regular FX in the ProChannel (which I know you can do via FX chains) BUT with the ability to "flyout" the original GUI for that FX.  That way I can use the ProChannel bin exclusively for both PC and regular VST FX, and be able to access their main respective UI regardless.

Currently I have FX in the normal bin, and some PC modules, but I dislike the separation.  I know I can "wrap" the regular FX as PC modules, but I don't like having to set these up and I lose the visual elements of the original FX UI.  But if there was a "flyout" option for these non-PC FX that would show the original UI, then I think I/we could dump the regular FX bin.

Hopefully that makes sense (it does to me right now).   I've added a feature request anyway, but maybe someone can think of another way to achieve this, or have something else to add that might be useful for my usage and/or the feature request itself.

Is it not there already? I mean, in the FX bin you see all the effects and when you double click on any of them their respective UI opens. What extra feature would the "flyout" option provide? May be I am not able to grasp your point.

I think he's requesting the same >> flyout option as opposed to opening the effect with a "Double Click"...
in the same manner that the EQ now flies out...

Fly out the whole Prochannel to look like a rack with all the GUIs viewable and editable. I don't know if that's even possible, but it would be cool. But then, I want to see this with the full-size console. Swipe around the board!!

Okay but that is not possible with third party plugins without redesigning the UI. For CW plugins, yes it would make sense then the question what would it show apart from a bigger UI? All the controls are already visible on PC. I don't see any difference except one click for flyout and double click for original UI, unless I am missing something.

Thanks for the feedback -- let me try to clarify

There's no easy way to "inter-mingle" regular FX with the ProChannel modules; although you can wrap a PC interface around a regular FX, but then you can't easily access the native UI of that effect.

What I would like is the ability to see the native UI for the FX when it is wrapped, by way of overloading the flyout button idea

It would be cool to add a fly out spectrum analyzer on Concrete Limiter so that you could use it in the final stage of your Master Bus, one that measures RMS and K levels.

Yes! Yes! Yes! This is similar to my thoughts, As I put all plugs into the ProChannel strip too.

When moving to a track, whatever none ProChannel plug in the FX Chain will open. For me (on separate monitor) and as I change tracks they will close while opening plugs in the FX Chain of track I changed to.

AWESOME!!!

I suggested this in this post... http://forum.cakewalk.com/FX-Chain-and-UIs-m2886763.aspx

I still don't get the problem you're having Peter. OK, having to use FX chains is a slight pain, but there are two views to the FX chain - and the one I use just shows the plugins exactly the same way as in the "normal" FX bin. You just click on the plugin and get it's normal GUI.

I'm like you - I use PC for all my plugins now - so everything is in the one place. This works fine for me and is no different from loading the plugins in the other FX bin.

PS - I wish we could take the EQ *out* of PC when it's not being used. This would free up PC space - as I use Equilibrium (in an FX preset in PC) on everything now. The EQ is the only thing you can't remove from PC.

Minimizing it makes it pretty small though... But I agree.
