Minimizing it makes it pretty small though... But I agree.

But it never stays minimised if you go somewhere else and then back to that track's ProChannel.

They did in X2

I can't comment on X3 (yet) but if you minimised any/all PC modules in X2, they would stay that way

Hi Bristol, they never stay minimised for me. I wonder what I'm missing, as I would *love* the EQ to stay minimised.

EDIT: I'm talking about X2 also - I haven't played enough with X3...

Unfortunately, I can't check at the moment ad my studio is scattered all over the house due to re-decorating etc.

But the end is in sight, and I MIGHT be in a position to temporarily hook it up this weekend so if I do, I'll check and see if this is how I remember it

No rush - don't let this interfere with valuable weekend pub time! ;-)

I'm 100% sure that the PC EQ is (almost) always open when I go to a new track and open PC. I've never tried to change this - I always assumed that's "how it is" ;-)

Where do you guys tend to insert the FX chain (i.e., before or after EQ, console emulation, etc...)

Thanks in advance,
G

I make a few. One for EQ's, one for compressors and one for saturation. I put the Comps first (unless I'm using a PC compressor), then the EQ one and put the saturation one last.

That all depends upon which effect you are going to use and where you want it in the signal chain.  You can open multiple FX Chain boxes if you wish as well.  The order of the PC is from top to bottom in the signal chain.  If I was going to add a Reverb plug in, into the FX Chain and wanted reverb to be after EQ and Compression, then it would follow those effects.

For instance on my master bus, I might have an FX Chain box open above the Console Emulator that has a Tape Sim plug in it.  On the same master bus, I might have another FX Chain box open after Concrete Limiter and in that FX Chain box is Span a spectrum analyser.  So my Pro Channel on the Master Bus might be EQ, Tape Sim, Console Emulator, Concrete Limiter, Span.

I still don't get the problem you're having Peter. OK, having to use FX chains is a slight pain, but there are two views to the FX chain - and the one I use just shows the plugins exactly the same way as in the "normal" FX bin. You just click on the plugin and get it's normal GUI.

Not wanting to speak on peters behalf but I think his and my point is that the problem is plugs are exactly the same as in the FX bin. There are no improvements.

In my view the whole concept of the ProChannel is it displays what plugs are being used in the active track thus enabling you to quickly tweak them. This works great for ProChannel modules but you still have to click on none ProChannel plugs in the FX Chain to see them. Plus when you move to a different track they remain open cluttering the screen with plugs no longer relevant, So now you need to close them and repeat the same procedure of opening none ProChannel plugs in new track. To me this seems soooo cumbersome.

""Why not follow the PC theme of opening the plugs that pertain to the active track only?""

In addition, yes some plugs work well in the ProChannel using “Show Effects ” Where the assignable 6 buttons and 6 rotaries’ do a great job. But any plug that has multiple controls like a Multiband, or graphic displays such as VC-64, PX-64, VX-64, LP-64 and Channel Tools are left wanting for additional info.

Well, that’s my tuppence worth… Just saying.
I’m planning on writing a feature request along these lines.

@ Make Shift... Hi Make Shift,
I’m also a fan of span (SpanFan... try saying that real quick lol) and I've been searching for a more in-depth Manual. Any ideas?

I agree with what you're saying BENT - I was just saying that I would never use these "FX Chain" controls - I'd rather use the plugin interface. I kinda thought the OP was using these "FX Chain" controls (and not liking it)...
