I pulled in a couple of classical string quartets -because they are limited instruments with distinct timbres - and dragged the audio down to a midi track running into garritan and kontakt and was amazed by how close the translation got without any fiddling.

I like this idea!  I haven't thought about that yet.  I've mostly been thinking along the lines of acoustic guitar & maybe piano.  But yeah, I bet you could do some crazy stuff with a string quartet!

I must admit I upgraded to editor despite the fact that there's no way I can afford it right now. Polyphonic audio to MIDI this good is pretty much one of my dreams and I had to take advantage before the offer runs out. After the X3 upgrade and now this I am going to be doing some serious belt tightening for a while! Celemony I hate you.....and so does my landlord this month

It is so amazing. Straight away I went and sampled some Spanish guitar music and dragged it into Sonar. Let Melodyne do its job and dragged it into a MIDI track which I output to Reaktor's Prism. I could not believe how accurately it recreated the notes and the feel, I didn't have to change a thing. Going through some synth presets was great fun - the music became something unrecognizable but wonderful.

Next I tried it on some of the George Duke clips from "George Duke's Soul Treasures" which comes with Komplete Ultimate. I always loved what he was playing here but was never too keen on the sound. Once again Melodyne converted them perfectly and now I have them playing through Z3TA and it sounds amazing. I put some delay on it, slapped on a nice fat house beat and hey presto...instant track. This is dangerous.

But best of all was a short recording of me playing a jazz chord melody on guitar that I'd forgotten about from months ago. I played it recently and thought it sounded great but for the life of me I could not remember what I was playing. Of course I could have sat down and worked out all of those chords by ear, but it was much easier to just let Melodyne do its thing and covert it to MIDI. Now I know exactly what notes I was playing. This thing is incredible.

I have been playing with Melodyne Editor for a good few hours now....Oh my what fun!

I'm about to really see what it can do by seeing how it deals with some My Bloody Valentine tracks...Should be most amusing!

Even though I've had Editor for a while now, the one thing I really want to do but just haven't gotten around to is singing/humming melodies and riffs and having Melodyne detect them.    Even drum parts could be done that way.

Hmmm...   Come to think of it, I should carry a portable recorder around since I usually get most of my ideas while driving, and just can't do anything with them.   Portable recorder > interface > Melodyne > new project.    I like.

HA! I'd be most impressed if it will be able to separate notes on a My Bloody Valentine track! Let us know!

I'm curious if any of you have any songs that come to mind, that are primarily "one acoustic guitar" or something along those lines, that you think would be fun to just tweak & mess around with inside Melodyne Editor....

This sounds too cool.  I'm weakening..... !

How about this?
Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions - Sets The Blaze

Primarily acoustic and female vocals - would be interested in how it can separate out the vocals.
