Hello, I write because I've been experiencing a problem lately with sonar 8. I am new in this program, and I am trying to learn how to use it. But now when I connect my MIDI cable to my laptop and open sonar, my speakers stop working. I can't even open any audio file out of Sonar. And in sonar, when I press my keyboard, my laptop gives me the signal that it is recognizing it, but no sound will come out. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

It would be good to have much more info to start looking for answers.
Your laptop specs, interface/soundcard, operating system, what is connected where....
A laptop surely hasn't got a MIDI input, so you're using an adapter cable?

What kind of keyboard? If it's sending MIDI, you need to have a soft synth inserted to play the sounds.
Have you done the tutorials and read the manual about using soft synths? You do know that MIDI has no sound, don't you? It's like digital sheet music, control data only.

Sure. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro C650, running Window 7. My soundcard is a Conexant SmartAudio HD. I'm using a PC USB to MIDI keyboard Interface Converter Cable Chord, and my keyboard is a Yamaha PSR-195. What happens is the following: I open a project and my devices, the soft synths, won't sound. Then I close it and reopen it and sounds, and while using it, at some point, sound just stops coming out, and I need to restart Sonar 8 again. It is not normal
