Well I finally bit the bullet and put my DAW online long enough to download the new AD drums.  I had to install my phone as a modem to be able to connect since that is my only source of internet.
 
The download went fine and as soon as it was through I disconnected from the internet.....no apparent problems.
 
BUT....when I opened up one of my projects that had Superior Drummer drums....I no longer had drums...!  Installing my phone as a modem had changed my computer hardware configuration and SD 2 would not load.  When I double clicked on the icon for the drums a box popped up stating that "This software is not authorized to run on this computer".   And...the Computer ID listed was not the same as when I authorized my Toontrack products.  Needless to say....I was sick...!
 
That was yesterday....this morning I came in to the studio and completely uninstalled my phone drivers which had created a new network connection (changing the computer ID).  LUCKILY it went back to the original Computer ID and all is working.
 
That was ONE BIG WHEWWWWWWW.

Yep... Toontrack's system ID is notoriously finnicky. If you have wifi drivers enabled at the time you install a Toontrack product, just turning on airplane mode can change your hardware ID. All in favor of renaming Toontrack to Doucherack?

After doing A LOT of googling and researching last night....I found the same conclusion.  Lots of people frown upon how Toontrack's authorization works.
 
Luckily after uninstalling my phone software and drivers for internet....my Comp ID went back to the one it had when I authorized my Toontrack stuff.

Huh that's really dumb. Usually the system ID is generated from things like the properties of the system drive and the mobo, things that aren't likely to change unless you actually change your computer. Not any peripheral hardware that you can just plug in and out, or even simply just turn off via software.

It's easy enough to register the new hardware ID with Toontrack. That's what I did when I recently updated Superior Drummer and found my ID had changed. At the time I couldn't think what would have precipitated this, but now I'm guessing it happened when my PC's onboard NIC went belly up, and I switched to a USB network interface.

Love Superior Drummer - mixing down to audio tracks to mix is the magic to that sampler - the samples really come alive after that.

Just checking, are you running the latest versions of the Toontracks products.  I seem to remember an update that attempted to alleviate some of those problems with changing hardware.  It might have been wifi oriented though.

That said, you can have two different authorizations available if you are in a situation where sometimes you run one hardware setup and sometimes not.  It's a bit of drudgery to go through all of your TT software and libraries to set up your new configuration but the authorization process is much more easy than it's ever been.  Yes, it's a hassle but I doubt if anyone authorized them any more times than I have.

yep, Dave is right. I have had hardware mods and with the latest updates, there is an online verification that gets quick access. It is working great here. Believe me, if it were not so, I would have mentioned it a lot earlier in the forum. :)

Well I just checked and there was an update for SD2 from July that I evidently not installed.  I was at 2.3.1 and Now have 2.3.2 .  Hope it does have that fix.
