You have to keep in mind, what are your main functions you are using?
Take Comping in ProX is horrible, really horrible, for me unusable (after a while takes from other lanes will appear on another track, bass take on Vocal take, it is possible that you loose takes!)
data management and take management is horrible as well.

Other parts like the great object oriented working, the real good internal fx and the usability of the mixer are great. No question.

But the Take comping is sh**, that's why i went back to Cubase 6/7 (i used Sonar x1/X2 for only some songs, but i didn't really like Sonar).
As a pop/rock/alternative/Indie Producer (a lot of audio/midi and VSTis) Cubase 7 is the best allrounder IMHO!

If you still want to work with ProX and you want a better GUI, you can buy other skins at http://skins.birdline.gr/.
They work really good!

yeah Samplitude does seem to spend less energy on aesthetics than the other DAW software.

Samp's track/console views look a lot better to me than Studio One's (and Cubase's console and DP's tracks view). :-)

The Independence 3.0 sampler is the old Yellow Tools sampler which is getting a little long in the tooth now. It's competent but as Jim said it doesn't touch Kontakt 5.

that's what I've heard, but I'm looking at it as an added bonus along with all the other things in the suite, as I get stuff at academic pricing.
