  • It appears X3 dropouts are mostly eliminated (p.2)

This is really sounding good...    I just started the download process so am looking forward to the X3 Experience!

Same here, stability much better on X3!

I just upgraded from Sonar X2 Essential to Sonar X3 Studio. I was having dropouts before (which is a big problem for me, a novice, since that usually means you can't export the file to a wav). Unfortunately for me the dropouts have worsened with X3. To the point I had to go to Audacity to finish a project! I do lots of decreasing and increasing the gain throughout a clip and that might throw complication into the project files but I don't know, at all!
I have HP Envy H8 1437C with 12 GB ram, Windows 8.1 Pro Evaluation copy installed, Intel Core I.5. It's got an Nvidia card with Beats Audio (uh oh).

Even when I copy a track to a new file it carries with it the same dropout baggage. I have found the complicated support help "Dropouts and Other Audio Problems." Any specific help?

How to isolate what is causing the conflict and strip down everything to the clip editing I do (mostly recorded keyboard).

What kind of an audio interface are you using?  Are you using MME(32bit) drivers or ASIO Drivers?

MME(32bit) (and i'm wondering abt Sync & Cach buffer setting; mine's at 512

FWIW, I use WDM/KS (WaveRT) and it really rocks. Sonar's talking to a MOTU Ultralite MKIII Hybrid via Firewire (bus power is nice...). When not recording, I use a 768 sample buffer (17.4ms). No snap, crackle or pop - rock solid.

It's possible that your MME(32bit) Drivers are causing this issue above anything else.  Do you have an audio interface that uses ASIO drivers? That being said, you can try adjusting your buffer size to it's max within Edit > Preferences > Driver Settings and moving the Mixing Latency closer to safe. How big is the session that you are trying to run?
