As a long time (decades worth) prog fan this was my kind of song.  Not much to add to the above - it's just a great a mix of influences that you've pulled off really, really well.   Though one band not mentioned so far that I heard bits of was Gentle Giant.    Who cares, love 'em all.     
 
OK, one last thought...  For me this sounds authentic.    'Nuff said.

 . . . and had a good laugh, since my association / comparison  brain immediately went to the band YES, and then the first post response I read (by forum  member "synkrotron") mentioned YES as a possible comparison.
 
The creativity here is amazing, guitar parts are very well done, and I find the mix is also excellent.
 
Anyways, don't mean to say that this is clone of YES, it just reminds me of that era with the drum crash shots, lyrical content, and harmony electric guitars . . . though the synth sounds you use really give it a more modern feel than those days of YES. Sounds like you were a big fan of prog rock ?
