From searching through the forums I see that a lot of people have had mind numbingly frustrating problems with Snap to Grid, especially in Staff View :) Also, although I've seen the recommendations about 'turning off' magnetic strength, I just can't find the option to turn it off. There's only a slider that goes from 'light to extreme' ??? Is there a setting in the .ini file for this?
Here's my version of this problem. Downloaded and set up X2a build 351 and have been using it for a week or so. Suddenly Snap to Grid simply does not work in Staff View. Not at any zoom level, no matter what strength the magnetic slider is at, no matter what setting of note value, no matter whether 'smart grid' is engaged or not....
But it was working perfectly yesterday!!!!!!!!!!
I still have Sonar 8.5.3 build 282 installed and Snap to Grid works just fine in it...
If anyone has any suggestions of what might have gone wrong and how to fix it I would be very grateful. I know that Cakewalk has always had some bizarre bias against Staff View (considering that the DAW is a
Music writing program) and I agree at least that there's no reason for it to be as good as a dedicated notation program. But it has always been very useful to me anyway. For whatever reason, I really don't use PRV. Probably because it just makes more visual sense to enter notes like you would if you were sketching them out on notation paper. Anyway, that’s the way I've been doing it since Cakewalk 1.0...so having this suddenly break is very frustrating.
Any helpful hints??
