That might be helpful, gswitz, thank you.

Did you try it in an existing project, or a new one?  Someone at cake suggested that it might be intended behaviour in a "dense" project, but it seems to happen in a new project with only one track too.

I have tried many combinations to track it down, but the only common factor seems to be if it is an effect plug, in an FX chain module in the PC.  Plus in the FX bin stay where they are.

Thanks again for your time.

Mine was a brand new empty project.

I'll start on the vid now.

Here is where the Vid should be in a few minutes.

On an entirely new topic, I wasn't able to export for YouTube from Cakewalk. I had to export to AVI (6GB) then use MS Movie Maker to convert to a 20 MB MP4.

I got some error saying no combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection. I guess I've got a learning curve there.

Got to this party late...

jb101 - are you using a dual monitor setup?

Reason being, I have the track view on the left monitor and the console view on the right monitor.
(X2a Producer, 64-bit)

If I open the GUI in an FX bin it sits on top of the console.

But click on the console or track view and the GUI slips behind the console.
(I can shrink the console, or drag the top of the console screen down, and there behind it is the missing GUI...)

If I drag the GUI over to the left monitor, it will remain on top of the track view, even if I click on something in the console or track view.

I end up doing a lot of GUI dragging, but if I need the GUI to stay visible, this is how I have to do it...

I have 2 monitors, but was only using 1 when I made the video.

Hello All...

I really appreciate this thread.
I'm salivating about X3 (as usual with all upgrades, updates, et al...I'm a long time Cakewalk user)
One thing I've learned is to read up on the forum as to program bugs, user reports of functionality and such...
I've had a few minor oddities in 8.5 and X2 ...the Cakewalk staff worked really hard on the 8.5 issue as it seemed to have been something known and as of yet had to be reconciled. The issue in X2a was (sort of) remedied when one of the staffers commented on a screen freeze problem when inserting any soft synth ...the issue still exists on my computer but clicking in the taskbar after instantiation unfreezes the screen instantly.

This problem sounds like something I'd like to follow ... Thanks again, y'all

Thanks, gswitz, I'll watch it when I get home.

@drummaman - yes, I am using two monitors, with the track view stretched over both monitors, so that could have been an issue, but sometimes the GUI shows up, but as an empty shell.

Thanks all for for your time.

This missing GUI bug happens with R-Mix Sonar in X2a when X2a's memory usage gets high (above 2Gb) and has been a reported bug for some time which can effect some plugins. The GUI bug seems to get worse as Sonar X2a's uses more memory.

I stopped using R-Mix Sonar in X2a, because of it. You would start a project with it working and later on R-Mix would just have a blank display.

So it would seem the bug is still present in X3.

Thanks foryour suggestion.

I don't think it can be a memory issue, as gswitz and I have both found it on "empty" projects, and it only seems to affect plugs in FXchains modules.

Edited for spelling

How do I send a .cwb file to Cakewalk?

Some insane service there, eh jb? Gotta love it! I hope you get your issue taken care of. As far as a bundle file, you shouldn't have to send them one unless one of the Bakers asks for it. Most times (in the past for me) they just want a .cwp MINUS any audio. So kill all the audio, leave any midi stuff and any plugs and then just save that as "name of song CW" or something so you know what it is. It should be small enough to email if they ask you for it. Good luck!
