Thomas this forum has been through some bad times with some nasty characters. Some here are a little sensitive, perhaps over sensitive. If in fact you are sincere in your wish to understand Sonar I and many others will be happy to help.

What I would caution the forum is being too cautious can hurt as much as being too easy. However when hate is met with love and deceit is met with openness the hater and the deceiver will always loose.

If we try our best to help we can't loose.

Dear Andrew, and dear "dubdisciple"...

X2 was our first Sonar version here. And yes, we are a registered user.

I'm not that an experienced guy on Sonar / Windows DAW's (yet). I do have quite a bit of experience in the field of audio engineering though. And we spend 99% of our time working. Very little time on the internet.

The studio where I work is now also on Windows - due to a few of our clients' demands. Mostly though we're on Mac. As are many other studios.

I sort of started to really like Sonar X2 and X3 and wanted to learn more. What a brave guy I was - with all the Apple guys around me!

So anyway... we were hoping to get some friendly help on this forum from fellow engineers and audio folk but it seems 8 out of 10 posts are rather hostile and weird. And it appears you are encouraging me/us to not use this forum anymore (?).

Seems some of you think ("dubdisciple"?) I'm someone else who posts here after every new program release. I have - which goes for everyone else here at the studio - NEVER EVER posted anything at all on a Sonar forum before and we find your replies to our tech questions insulting and totally weird. Especially since we actually were having ideas and thought that could generat interesting talk.

A few very nice and friendly though - thanks! :)

We are dedicated audio people, one guy here with some awesome achievments in loudspeaker and studio design etc. (not me...).  Everyone here have read my posts and your replies - and a few have generated the input to some of my posts  - we don't feel good anymore about this.

Having created a forum account only 2 hours ago and being a Logic and DP and analogue guy I have a little bit of forum experience. Not a lot - but tech questions was never replied to anywhere like I experienced here.

Sincere thanks to those few who were nice and friendly. Actually "me" = 3 engineers and some other guys here. Guess the Sonar DAW is a good DAW. Only have experience of another forum (DAW for Apple) and it was different... It was just "normal".

Reviewing our posts / my posts, I don't see anything strange or bad in them at all and cannot understand why they were not replied to in the same technical and professional spirit.

It was just me personally who got a little curious and began to like X2/X3. A feeling that soon went away thanks to the "unusual" responses here.

Best and thanks for your kind help! Good that it only took 2 hours to find out.
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I was only trying to offer you direct help for some of your issues, specifically the audio dropout. Sometimes a quick call can get things squared away. So please do keep that in mind.

Thomas.  As i said in the other thread, i actually hope I'm wrong.  Unfortunately we have been hit by the same routine so often that it does lead to suspicion when what appears to be the same MO comes up.  The person you seem to be makes these threads to stir up resident malcontents who quickly jump to defend him and it usually sparks post after post of endless rants.  If that is not you, you have my full apology

Thanks for your replies:

1.
Saving the "set modules as default for tracks" only creates a default including what MODULES in the Pro Channel will come up on new tracks as defaults. The actual EQ default frequencies and Q-values etc however will be factory defaults. And those are the ones I want to change.

2.
Making a template is a good idea sometimes. But far from always: new tracks are added to an existing template and then the equalizer default frequencies will need to be reset again. And again. And again... And that's what I'm trying to change here.

So if any of you guys know how to make the Pro Channels EQ can be set to start with oether frequencies as default your advice will be highly appreciated.

Best
T

Hi Thomas,

Having a configurable default for EQ is a great idea for a future update to Sonar. I'll pass this along to our Product team for consideration.

In the meantime, you have a few options to help you with this task. On a track that has the EQ frequency settings you need, right click and choose "Save as track Template" on the track strip (where the controls are). To call this template, right click on the gray space below the track strips and insert the template you saved.

ProChannel presets are also available to you. You can re-save the Misc-Full Reset preset with the EQ settings you need. Putting an underscore (_) at the beginning of the preset file name brings it to the top for quick access.

I would also advise creating project templates with these settings. Clone track would come in handy with this task. Create a single audio track with the settings you prefer with EQ (and other PC modules). Right click the track on the track strip and choose "Clone track." Save this project as a template.

You can also keep a blank track handy in your projects to quickly clone as you need new tracks with your EQ or other settings.

Hope this helps.

FWIW I would also like to see 'set modules as defaults' remember the actual settings of each module so they can be inherited into each new track.

Hi, my/our questions were 100% in regards to technical issues. The replies turned out to be 90% about social/psychological/hostile/paranoid/conspiracy/fear issues of various nature so we decided it's better to leave you guys to it... This sounds like a dangerous place..   Thanks again for the 10% replies that made sense.

Good luck w everything

Good luck, Thomas.  Your syntax and word choice is remarkably familiar to me.

It is almost impossible to disguise.

I am sorry that you have not found what you were looking for here, but am sure we will talk again.

Regards

Of course, EQ presets are a real priority for console-reared engineers. A highly specific default is downright essential.

Do me a favour.
