So, if you've been looking for some first impressions, here's what I think so far:
1. The DL is enormous. Like 39 Gigs.
2. It's very different than BFD2. I've been playing with it for a couple hours now and I'm just starting to find my way around.
3. So far the new kits sound nice, but...
4. the room seems a bit "short" so far and I'm not a giant fan of the included snares (that's probably a personal taste thing though)
5. No simple kit presets that I've found so far. That is, the presets are all things like "BFD3 Blues" or "BFD3 Country". No "Kit 1 flat" etc
6. The Room, Amb and OH mics are bundled into an "AmbMix" channel. In order to get to the individual channels you have to expand that "AmbMix" channel. Took me 20 minutes to figure that out. OTOH, I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, so YMMV.
All that said I like it so far. There does seem to be quite a learning curve. If you're anything like me you shouldn't expect to be able to quickly use it out of the box, even if you do have experience with previous versions and lots of other drum modules.
Oh, seems to play nicely in Sonar, but the 32bit DLL and the 64bit DLL have the same name so you may need to be a bit careful. I renamed the 32bit DLL so it wouldn't be found on a VST scan. No VST3, but that's not something I'm terribly concerned about.
If you buy the product as a downloadable product you'll download a program installer and a sound installer "ticket". The "ticket" gets opened by the FXPansion licensing app which then loads the content.
Let me know if anyone has specific questions and I'll try to answer...
