robbykI got an email from Magix stating I could upgrade my current version Platinum 12 to 13 for ~ $60 and then get their version 14 free when it is released.
Based on the above, I'm not certain I'm gaining a whole lot...
It depends what you're looking for. The biggest things they seem to be changing are support for H.265 and MPEG-H which for people who film professional video is needed and new hardware support. Seems like minor changes but something tells me they are bigger than I think they are.
I'm hoping for tool and interface changes but they will likely be minor. Since Magix took over, they will want to keep changes to a minimum because they don't want to scare people off with new features they may not want and stick to focusing on core things that are highly demanded and can be implemented easily and without error.
I have a feeling Sony had nothing to do with this update other than pulling some of the team so they likely had very little time to do much. So long as they keep up with the program and make it better over time with new features like Sonar does, I'll be happy. The only thing I've really wanted to see changed is a bit of modernization on the interface and tools but other than that, not much really needs to be changed since it works very well.
