MandolinPicker, that's not a bad idea but it wouldn't have helped the fellow in the video. His complaint was he didn't know how to drag an MP3 into a track to play along with. Drag 'n drop was, in his mind, an advanced concept.

Didn't he say that when he tried to drag a clip onto the track some warning dialog came up that he didn't understand?

He didn't understand because the dialog box didn't have f-bombs in it.

Release a P5 for newbies.  It was a simple and elegant interface with not a lot of insider info or tasks.  I bet the guy, even drunk, maybe could make it work.  ;-)

But a lot of these problems are the same one I had with Word or WordPerfect back in the troglodyte era with a 500 page manual.  And it goes all the way back to the dictionary - how are you supposed find out how to spell a word if you don't know how it is spelled?  1st, don't use the unabridged dictionary.

You just described SOME of the functions covered in the tutorials at the start of the manual. It walks you through all the basics step by step to give ultra n00bs enough to get working.

This guy obviously wasted six months without ever cracking the manual to the first chapter. Seriously it takes very little time to work through that section. Of course this is Cakewalks fault somehow.

I just googled Sonar Tutorial and clicked the second link which led to CakeTV. That leads to a page with four links. The only link related to Sonar is Sonar University.

That takes you to a page with three choices. Get started, Go Deeper and Master Class. Click Get Started and what's the first video you see? Mix Recall.

Now I ask you, is Mix Recall really the first subject someone who had never touched a DAW be presented with? So yeah, I think Cakewalk has a little bit of fault here. Sue me.

I noticed that a while back... didn't even watch it. Karl's videos are more helpful I think.
Cake should buy them from him and include them, IMO.
DAW for Dummies... BTW, start here: https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Tutorial1.1.html
