There may be valid criticisms of X3 or Cakewalk but pricing is absolutely not one of them.  The price is far more than fair when compared to the industry as a whole.  Whining about the these prices for that much power and function should be embarrassing.

Uh... I've already paid a significant hunk of money and the legit competitors are pretty much on par with Cake prices if you strip out all the extra plugs. I'm asking to PAY for what would amount to a patch on what I have.

I'm in the same boat and there are many choices out there.  Still for just the ARA and other non-plugin features $150 is quite fair.  The upgrade from BFD2 to BFD3 is $149 and that is one VSTi.

       6.0 to 7 =   $199.99
       4/5 to 7  =   $299.99
 
Apple Logic upgrade:  n/a  -  everyone pays $200.00

Right. And how many refinements were made to those programs between versions? From what I've seen/heard of C7 they did a LOT. What we have here is a patch, a couple interface improvements (to fix things that were seemingly rushed last time) and a bunch of sims. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure many will get their money's worth out of this bundle but I don't need a bundle. I need a patch.

B) It's unreasonable to say "What we have here is a patch, a couple interface improvements" when they added ARA/Melodyne and VST3.  Those are seriously under the hood upgrades.

And not sure if you saw but C7 raised their price $100 starting October 15th. It's going to be $249 to go from 6.5 to 7.
 
Doesn't really matter though. We are talking about SONAR X3. There's plenty of value in SONAR X3 but it's for each person to decide. I'm sort of done this discussing this because we stand by the value and the price. There's a lot of refinement and enhancements across the board. We respect your opinion and we know where you stand. Thanks.

They did a hella of alot more than a couple of interface improvements! 
 
I'm entitled to an opinion too and I would prefer Cakewalk didn't spend time on legacy versions. 

Well I can see where this is heading. The point is I have lost my trust in Cake. I'm glad ya'll are happy and I sincerely hope you stay that way. I am not. If that makes me a "whiner" so be it.
 
You might as well go and delete this thread because it's starting to go down the crapper and I certainly did not want that.

I will most definitely upgrade to X3 Producer by the end of this week. Why, because I like it best.
 
I want what it can do including all the added plugiins. I do not see the asking price for the upgrade as being exorbitant in the slightest. BTW it used to be $179.
 
I sympathize with Beepster but I also know that I have always been pleased with each version I have bought and that has been every single one going back to Pro Audio 9. 
 
Beep doesn't have the history many of us have with Sonar and CW. it is understandable that he may look at it a little differently. However, I think it would pose a lot of problems if CW were to customize each version for various customers. What for example do they leave out? Just plugins? Well that would work for some but I would miss those that I do not have.
 
Beside getting the full Producer means to me that I get all the goodies that CW is offering. That is a consideration for me if for no other reason I will be on the same page as others on this forum. Thus I will be able to help those with the same version. This has been a consideration for me for some time now.
