Heh. Giving up smoking is another way...

I guess I can give up bottled water.  Who needs clean, pricey water anyway?  Just think how quickly a dollar a bottle adds up.

I gave up smoking 7 months ago so I could have more money to spend on music gear.

So far I have 3 new handbags, a selection of shoes, a dress or two and a new leather couch.

They did a hella of alot more than a couple of interface improvements!

I'm entitled to an opinion too and I would prefer Cakewalk didn't spend time on legacy versions.

I'd prefer that Cakewalk support staff not take time away from their primary mission by engaging in tedious arguments about pricing that clearly can lead nowhere.  I believe the large majority feel the pricing is fair, and anybody who feels it is not fair is not compelled to send Cakewalk any money.  There really isn't any point in debating beyond that, at a time when there are so many people who really appreciate what Cakewalk is doing and are eager to get up the X3 learning curve as quickly as possible, with the help of Cakewalk's support staff.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with anybody saying "This release / product is just not for me."  I do that all the time.  I think we can all respect that.  But can we please let the support people get back to helping folks?

Uh... this thread was originally posted the day of release and was dead and forgotten. I did not ask Andrew or any other Bakers to come in here nor did they need to. It was appreciated and I thanked him. In the past week it has been insinuated that I am many negative things and even had a Baker check my account to make sure I was actually a customer because the forum is filled with "pirates" as well as malcontents and trolls. I have always been pretty chill when expressing my concerns. Now I'm being called "cheap" and a "whiner". Well I've dropped thousands of dollars this past year and a half getting this studio running which is a STUNNING feat for someone who has literally next to nothing. I'm not cheap I'm freaking BROKE! I do not go out and enjoy such luxuries as starbucks or dine out or go to the bar or bottled water or new clothes. I eat once, maybe twice a day and it is all cheap ass groceries bought on special and prepared at home. I do all this so I can do the things I need to do to make some freaking money again.

So am I cheap? Am I troll? Am I pirate? Believe whatever you want but I have put everything I got into this and I keep getting asked for more.

And the hilarious part? I'm actually CONSIDERING it!

Now kindly keep your personal observations to yourselves. Thank you.

Hey Beep, is it the price you object to?

I'm just curious, if the upgrade to X3 Producer was $99, would you go for it?

(You can PM me if you don't want to keep the thread going in this direction.  In fact, that might be better).

Beep I hope my post didn't upset you. That was not my intention. I know where you are coming from and there is no problem from me about it.

Hi, JonD (edited because John posted... heh). If it proves to be solid, yes I would. There may be specials in the future so I will be keeping my eye out if I don't go another route before then. It seems Cake is trying to get back on the right track but I can't help but be a little disappoint with how X2 was handle. That's my only real gripe.

And yeah... let's let this one fade into oblivion or preferably have a mod delete it. This thread should have been pushed many pages in by now. I had already moved on to acceptance and was working on getting a project together.

Cheers.

@John... Your post didn't bother me at all. You weren't condescending or rude. You know I can handle most discussions as long as they remain civil. Cheers.

I didn't meant to be offensive if it was taken that way.  I wish I had fixes for X2 also but that is a different subject than whether the upgrade price is fair.

Uh... I've already paid a significant hunk of money and the legit competitors are pretty much on par with Cake prices if you strip out all the extra plugs. I'm asking to PAY for what would amount to a patch on what I have.

Since it looks like x4 will be coming out next september, I think I can afford to wait till they do the "get the X3 upgrade for cheap" routine, right before X4.  That way I keep my Producer status and get my X2 bugs fixed (hopefully).

In the meantime a lot of beta testers will be working towards the X3a patch and I'd just as well leave that to them.

I'll be interested in seeing what happens to prices, now that Gibson is at the wheel...
