  • Matching tempo to imported audio clip?

I have been provided an audio clip that I need to add parts to. I would like to match Sonar's tempo to the imported clip's tempo.  I'm trying to use the Set Project From Clip function on the AudioSnap Pallete but I get "Invalid Measure or Beat".   I've tried editing the clip map and adjusting the threshold, but there is no setting that works.

I could just try to set the tempo by trial and error, but when I manually change the tempo value for the project, it also adjusts the the pitch and duration of the audio clip which I don't want.

Could anyone point me to debugging tips for Set Project Tempo From Clip,  or failing that, how to adjust project tempo without stretch/shrinking existing audio?

I've been trying various things, reading the help, reading the reference guide, and searching forums for a couple of days. Still no luck with a seemingly simple tempo function.
As far as I can tell, there is no mention of the "Invalid Measure or Beat" error, or what to do about it in any documentation. Some other posts suggested removing the first beat or moving it away from the 1:0:0 start point, but that doesn't seem to help.

I ran across this thread from 2010: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Audiosnap-Quantizing-Tempo-Maps-Flaws-bugs-and-tricks-m2078582.aspx
It seems like Audio Snap has been fundamentally flawed for a long time.

Has anybody had success using the "Set Project Tempo From Clip" for a song or longer file?
