Can't you delete it from your X2a installation, save it & open it up in X3?

Yes, but that's a wonky solution, dontchyathink?

Especially since I don't have a way to find all instances of (say) LA-2A in all projects. That is a cakewalk utility that would be handy for us plug-in junkies.

Ed, I'm getting this problem, too.  I opened a project from X2 in X3, and merely added 3 instances of the the new PC tape emulator to the project.  The only other plug in in the song is Guitar Rig 4 LE.  All other plugs are native Sonar plugs.  After the project is open for a while it just starts motorboating while at rest.  This has never happened to me in any version of Sonar going all the way back to the beginning of Sonar.  I'll be watching for a solution.

My motor boating (for now) has ceased in that one project after I....

a) updated to Rev 7.1 of the UAD plugs
b) deleted the now defunct LA-2A plug from the project

However as noted in post 27, having the defunct UAD LA-2A in the project (as informed by SONAR upon project load) and trying to delete the plug, SONAR crashes.

That is all.

Another problem I just discovered.

If I let the project simply sit for a while and then start the transport, the audio does not happen.

I'm not talking dropout, stutter or audio engine stopping. I'm talking the time indicator is moving, the project is "playing" but there is simply no sound.

This is after opening the project in X2, deleting the defunct LA-2A, saving and then opening the project in X3.

Does your computer go to sleep when you do this? How long do you wait and what hardware are you running? I will try to reproduce on my end.

My machine never sleeps.

Seems to be about 5 minutes or so.

RME UFX ASIO 1024 buffer (it's a big project)
WIN 7 64bit
SONAR 64 bit

Now I'm not sure about the time. I opened the project and let it sit for 10 minutes. Plays fine.

Strange, just let my machine do the same and everything is working fine. I'm going to contact one of our employees that has an RME device to see if it's specific to the hardware.

In the mean time can you try the following:
  • Bypass all effects (hit the letter E) in your project
  • Let it sit for 5 minutes
  • Hit play
Same issue?

Dan,

I will try that. But as I posted in #37 after 10 minutes it was still ok.

Maybe that other time was longer. I was trying so many things I'm not sure of the actual timing now.

Dan,

I seem to be battling two issues at the same time.

What I have discovered is that what I posted earlier about the defunct LA-2A si not entirely accurate.

After replacing the defunct LA-2A with T-Racks 2A (since I could not load CA-2A as a VST yet) I've discovered that if I try and turn that off or delete it I get a same crash just like when I was dealing with the defunct LA-2A.

But what I discovered is that those plugs were both following the Waves Bass Rider Mono (which appears to be using the VST3 version, whereas X2 was using the VST2 version).

I am going to start another thread for this distinct issue.

I will follow up on the silent playing shortly.
