No, it's the only button that I haven't discovered what it does yet. Sorry, if anyone does know please post up, it seems to me to be redundant.

I know - I'm lame. I have SO much to do, I can't seem to ever get to this stuff like I'd like to!

Does this work with older versions of Home Studio "Home studio 2"?

Can anyone tell me if you map BCF2000 controls in Makie Control Mode to any knob in say Rapture or Pentagon or LP64 plugins?

Thanks Blades. I'm thinkinking about getting a control surface and I found your videos on using the BCF2000 very helpful. It would appear to offer control of more object parameters than an Alpha Track. I would very much like to know whether it is as effective for soft synth control.

It's not very effective for ME for softsynth control. In plugin mode it can support a number of effects, but it's a pretty small list. I have an Edirol PCR300 that I use for that stuff. The ACT stuff works well with it and it keeps me concentrating on the seperate functions. The stuff on the keyboard is generally for keyboard stuff. I use the Behringer for actual mixing, mostly due to the motorized faders - takeover of the controls works ok in ACT for synth parameters and stuff, but it's just wierd when you try to use it after having switch the banks of the channels that you are controlling.

If you are in Mackie mode on the BCF, unfortunately, you can't just switch mid-stream to ACT mode. You would have to reboot the BCF to switch its mode and Sonar doesn't like when you do that when it's running, so exiting Sonar and going back in is usually necessary to get things right. This is, of course, terrible for workflow.

Thanks for the response Blades - seems nothing is perfect! Can you not add your own support for plugins etc in Mackie mode?

To a degree, yes, but it's some manual editing of the MackieControl.ini file and trying to make heads or tails of what works and what doesn't. Take a look through that file, make a backup copy of it, and edit according to how it seems like it would work.

If you aren't fairly familar with edits of files like this, it may not be your bag...

I think I would be out of my depth there. Thanks for getting back.

Thanks for the info! I am very new to sonar and have the BCF2000. I am using Sonar 8.3.1. Does your tutorial apply to Sonar 8? When I plugged in the usb, it atomatically loaded the drivers. I am running Vista. Thanks for your help!
