How does it play with the V studio 700?  I already have addictive drums as well as the $800 Melodyne Bundle. I have a Kurzweil keyboard that is pretty good.  VST3 support is good. Now my waves plugs will work correctly.
Kind of similar situation.

I forgot about AudioSnap.  That's something that is absolutely necessary, but then, Melodyne Editor can do timing correction as well.

It's a bit like "How do you keep 'em down on the farm after they've seen Paris."  I've improved my plugins to the point where I don't want to pay for something I don't need.  Sonar is no longer my only DAW product that I use.  (Not my fault, X1 did it.)  I look at $150 and I can buy another really cool plug in to add to my collection and I can use it on any product.

I look at $150 and I can get one really cool plug-in, or a boatload of really cool plug-ins with X3.

If you want new plugins and new VSTi - pay for Production version. But if you don`t need it - buy Producer for 99$. This is good idea! But now we don`t have it. :(

I see an additional upgrade level that Cakewalk should consider - a $25 upgrade that would unlock the Prochannel strip in X3 to use existing ProChannel modules that a registered user already owns.

yes but what if you are loving this program and want some extra features, then you.ve painted yourself in to a corner.
its not much more to spend, specially when taking in to consideration prices around the league for daw software.

Hopefully it's just a touchy subject with cakewalk and they are trying to figure out when a fix will be available and how to answer. Hopefully control surface support in general is on deck.

Third party plugins are cool and all but they should definitely be 2nd to all core functionality when it comes to selling the product.

We didn't drop support for the VS-700. The SONAR X3 installer still installs the components and we did not remove any functionality. I do know this is not an area we focused on with this release however, so I would expect the same functionality as SONAR X2a.
