No. I have the same thing that comes with the upgrade purchase. Melodyne Singletrack 2.1. I'm paying for both and I want to keep both. I can sell one or transfer one to a friend. I think I will just delete it before I upgrade and see what happens. I'll probably wait a bit anyway.
Last year I purchased Studio One (which has the bundled Melodyne Essentials). I also had a second license of Melodyne Essentials. I eventually upgraded the second license to Editor, but for awhile, I had two separate Essentials licenses. As Noel commented, the best way to keep track of this is via Celemony's site. Once you log in to your account, all of your licenses will show up separately, each with its own serial number.
BTW, the downloaded Melodyne file will show as "Melodyne Singletrack", regardless of whether it's Essentials, Assistant, Editor, etc. (Your serial number determines what version to install).
I'm about to install X3, so I expect to have a third Melodyne license soon.
