interesting take reading others perspectives mostly positive but

there are two Haters there that make some of the negative nancys here look like Mother Theresa..

they should stop

Yes, there are haters and unreasonable people in that thread but there are also people with legitimate points.  Many of us feel that Cakewalk is ignoring bugs and puts very little effort into making the program stable.  Instead they just keep adding features not addressing the problems many people are having.  I've heard nothing about bug fixes so far.

There have been a few mentions about stability/core improvements from the Bakers FWIW.

I must have missed that.  But I'm skeptical.

Well it's pretty much a standard thing to do within a new version/update of any software and pretty much goes without saying but will still get mentioned. I still think a lot of the problems X2 had were because of the touch  stuff and/or working/releasing it before Windows 8.1 was released. I mean seriously it is the odd graphical glitches, bizarre button behavior and selection stuff that really stands out to me and that kind of implies that it's how the user interface is accepting the data. I'm starting think the reason we didn't get a patch was because when Win 8 was officially released it was significantly different or different enough than the pre release version for developers that they said "Screw it. This is too messed up. We'll just do it right for X3 instead of trying to build on top of what we've already done."

I really do think that trying to build a program around an OS that had yet to be released was a bad idea. I'm just annoyed that I had to pay for that experiment and wish there had been an exclusively Win 7 (and maybe Vista) release for those who don't want or need touchscreen or Win8.

But I'm trying not to dwell on this anymore. What's done is done and there ain't no changing things now. I'd still pay $50 for an X2 patch if they made one available after the release of X3.

In the case of the S-1 forum. That forum unfortunately has received some of the trouble makers that once came over here. I don't envy them at all and I say good riddance.  Naturally none of those folks are going to be happy about anything Sonar. The lack of using common logic shows in bashing a product that hasn't even shipped yet. I have S-1, used it in a few projects. It seems to be a great go to product for anything basic. The workflow in it is good once you learn your way around it.There are a few things it excels at but still nowhere near the level of sophistication that is built into Sonar. Nowhere near the options.

I didn't bother to go to either forum to see what the ruckus is all about. Frankly I don't care, it's a waste of my time. This whole thing could have a reverse effect, I mean, if you create a war over which is best more people are prone to go out and experience it for themselves. Negative publicity can be good publicity. Thanks KVR, Thanks S-1.

I just dragged my poor head through all 23 pages and I'm not sure if we read the same thing.  Most of it was about Steam, a coupe of guys threw sh** at each other like rabid monkeys, then there was some debate about Gibson and only a tiny part of the remainder was people slagging off either Cakewalk or Sonar.

If you haven't read it yet, please save yourself the time and trouble, it's not worth it.

Read my comprehensive summary instead: "A vapid turd of disinterest".

I've been over to the Studio One forum this morning fighting the haters.  There was a 'Wow' thread (re. the Gibson acquisition) and it drew some nasty childish posts when normally the S1 forum is quite civilised.  I have Studio One as well as Sonar and enjoy using both, although if I have some MIDI in a project and I'm using my external synths and drum machines it's Sonar every time as S1 was written primarily for audio and MIDI is not well catered for.

Ah, I see the thread has progressed over the last 24 hours.   I may pop in as well depending on how things go.  Can't leave it up to just you and Jlien (another reasonable poster).

For anyone that doesn't frequent the S1 forums, our old friend Bub is now a regular - there's no missing the zombie avatar.

My mate Daryl loves monkeys. And it would appear he is missing out on all the fun.

I reached out to a few to see if we could help resolve their issues and discuss their thoughts. They wanted no part of it.

As I said in the other thread, you can't blame them for making assumptions and giving unfair judgment to Sonar (both in KVR and here). That's their nature. I really wish you could've prevented the leak from Sweetwater so that you wouldn't be busy now correcting them.
I often chime in Sonar bashing threads there and in Studio One forums to correct their misinformation, but the two threads in KVR this time were too long and active so I gave up reading.

I kind of miss Bub SteveC. He wasn't happy with Sonar though. I try and stay clear of any airborne poop fights. Though it might be fun to watch

KVR's forums are like the skankiest bar you've ever been in. Bunch of fools running their mouths and sooner or later someone gets clobbered with a pool cue. It's good entertainment if you know what you're about and keep your head. You do have to duck once in a while. Instead, I just lurk and enjoy the show.
