Janet
I hope I haven't posted this before.  If I did, it's been a long time.  I think I'm finally happy with it now.  Rik's composition...I played along.  Crits welcome. And thank you!

Reduced the reverb, evening of June 2.  Thank you all!

Wow, really nice musicianship by both of you........had a bit of that flamenco feel to it as well.....very, very nice.

The verb however, was a bit too much on the guitar (possibly other instruments) and it seemed to muddy up this otherwise wonderful piece of music. (Possibly the synth strings + guitar verb made it sound a bit over-verbed.....IDK??) Please take this slight crit with a grain of salt........this is just how it translated on my H-phones.

Thanks so much for that.  I'll go back and see if I can fix that without screwing up anything else. :)  Sure do appreciate it!

Love the musicianship and great piece. Production seems pretty good to my ears. I highly respect Mesh's production opinions however for this genre I would have to vote the ambiance on the nylon was nice choice and level.

Another beautiful song, Janet.  I agree with Mesh on the reverb.  It diminishes the beautiful finger picking and blend of piano and string.  Keep the verb, just lower the mix a bit and you've got a gem.

Thanks Grant.  Eenie, meenie, minie, mo... :)

Thank you, Lynn.  Lower the mix a bit?  As in just turn down the volume?  Not sure I'm following you...

Rimshot
He means lower the volume of the reverb Janet.

I really like what you both did. The playing is really good.
The melodic structure is also very good. It carries a lot of emotion between the two of you.
I would pan the piano a bit more to the right so it helps the stereo image of it better. Guitar is perfect.
Just backoff the reverb overall - this production does not need so much of it.
Nice job.

The more I listen the more I wished you lived next door...lol
Perhaps at some point you could play piano on a tune or two that I have in my head but never found the piano player I needed for that song.

Best of luck with all your music

Thank you so much, Rimshot.  Once I opened up Sonar, that made more sense, but your directions certainly helped!
I panned them both a little more and brought the reverb down quite a bit.  Can't believe I didn't hear that before.  Well, I can (believe it). But I wish I would have.

Thanks Billy.  Back in the day (a few years ago), I was that girl...did quite a few collabs around here.  Now it's all I can do to drag out a few old ones and try to polish them up.  Maybe some day...

Another question for anyone...does this seem compressed enough?  It's way 'wavier' than other files I see.  I use Ozone's 'loudness maximizer' and I guess that used to do the trick, but perhaps I'm not using it right.  I can use the Sonitus Compressor and that will do it but I often wonder if that's a good idea....(to use it in addition to Ozone).

So...new mix up as of June 2, evening. Thanks again so much!  You guys are the best!
