I would like to record this version of a song originally written by Guitar Slim aka Eddie Jones and arranged by Ray Charles.
My lead guitar player can play this but he is 16 hundred miles away from me and does not yet have a DAW.
I want to do the vocal. I played with Joe for many years before he passed and this has been on my bucket list for a long time.
I had in mind to replace the Harmonica with a piano part in the style of Ray Charles, with the possibility for some harmonica fills.
Tanya Richardson who played bass on this recording will do the bass part. Tanya and I are the only two people left alive from this old school band....not sure just long we will last...lol

The first time I heard that song was when a buddy of mine gave me SRV's version.......needless to say, I ended up buying all of SRV's CD's.
I haven't tried to learn this song, but it sure fits well with my kind of music style and shouldn't be too hard to learn. The problem is, the next few months are going to be a bit busy for me........I'd love to do any bluesy/jazzy/funky/soulful song though. :))

I need to get the drum track done with the bass part. Both the drummer I want to use and the Bass player live in Houston Texas. I have access to a studio there and will get them to go there to record the Drums and Bass.
Tanya will play bass as she is the bass player who played on the original.

I think I can sing this in the key of F but I am working on that now....may have to change keys but I don't really want to.

This is going to take some time to get together.

Thanks,

Billy

...most lead guitarist should be able to play this song..? I actually haven't heard it so I checked it out... I like all the versions; specially Hendrix's, SRV's & Earl King's...
I think this song is open to a lot of modifications (well like most songs).. but perhaps once you have the song ready for the lead guitar, you could post it and perhaps one of us can add something on top? ;)

Thanks guys,

I call a recording studio in Houston today that is very well set up to record live drums. I am trying to get in touch with a drummer I know to set up the session. His name is David Lartigue and I have not spoken to him in a good little while. I spoke to Tanya Richardson on the phone today and she can play the bass part most any time.

The studio has skype set up in the control room so I can manage the session remotely.

If I can get the drum and bass recorded to my liking I will post it here.

Thanks,

Billy

BTW....I am here to help anyone that can....all you have to do is ask.
