I recently tried the demo and couldn't figure it out (I'm stupid), but I think VAC should be able to host ARC2 as well. I would love to figure it out and leave ARC2 on all the time. That would be my favorite upgrade of the year.

VAC can't host VST's but PedalBoard2 can - you just load ARC in Pedalboard and select VAC as your audio device. Actually it's a little more complicated but if a clutz like me can get it up and running I'm sure you'll be able to work it out. Another thing I did was write a little script to automatically turn VAC and Pedalboard on and off so I can do it from my taskbar automatically instead of having to turn them on an off manually when I switch from Sonar to Spotify for instance. I prefer to host ARC in Sonar when I'm mixing. It all works great and yes, music and videos sound amazing through ARC. It even makes a huge difference when watching video tutorials on YouTube because the voice is less boomy.

I also added Sonarworks to my Pedalboard 2 setup so I can run Spotify through my calibrated cans. Heaven! If you do get VAC and Pedalboard2 and get stuck then PM me and I will attempt to help!

I had VAC confused with this...

It does host VSTs, and should work. Heres a video for it.

Yeah it sounds like that may be a quicker/easier way than using VAC and Pedalboard2 together, I think it's around the same price I paid for VAC as well. However I'd probably want to do some more research and hear from people who are using Virtual Audio Stream successfully before paying for it - in the case of VAC, I had it recommended to me from someone who was already using it.

Yeah, I've sent some e-mails to support. I'm pretty leary of it to tell you the truth. I'm running a pretty stable system and ARC2 works easily with Sonar and Mixbus.
The new Mixbus monitor section should be stolen by everyone if you ask me. That's the way it should be done.

Here's the video Troy created which I just hunted down for this post ..

Hi Kenny,

thanks. thanks. thanks. and thanks again.

just watched the video and this is exactly what I was looking for :-)

I will definitely give this a try with Sonar to Mixbus. I did send a mail to the JACK people asking about the 64bit version and will wait if I hear back from them. If not I just try the 32/64bit that I can download.

But as Tony said in the video: use Logic/Sonar as a tape machine and mix in Mixbus would be really something I could see as a great tool!

Hi Rob ,

I'm glad Troys video helped you out it sure helped me.
I'm very interested in how it pans out for you . Keep us all in the loop once you find out more or get it working in Windows .

all the best,

Kenny

I installed Jack for win 10 64 bit last night to finally give this a try, but it did not work out for me. the options are totally different between JACK win10 and OSX versions (nothing from the video shows up in win10) ... so this quickly became a dead end street ...

Yet, ... having meanwhile switched to a MOTU audio interface with very fancy routing options, I figured I could just try to use Mixbus and Sonar at the same time, routing Sonar output to MOTU + MOTU computer out 12 to MOTU computer IN 34 (I.e. just in the routing matrix, not using any cables)  + using MOTU IN 34 in Mixbus did actually allow me to start transport in Sonar and listen back via Mixbus, which is realtime routing :-)

What's also nice is that I could control Mixbus using an old BCF2000 i.e. I got control surface access to EQ, compression, sends, faders and pans. Nice!

Still need to test how well this works in case of sending e.g. 8 stems to Mixbus, but from the MOTU side this should not be an issue ... also need to check whether I can use one control surface for transport and faders in Sonar, one for mixing in Mixbus (first test looked promising)

I could never get Mixbus 3 and Splat to share drivers and YES! I tried everything. Even Ben at Harrison couldn't get it working. I can use Sonar all day with no problems but as soon as I leave Sonar and fire up Mixbus my drivers will not work in Sonar until I do a complete reinstall of the drivers!!! What a mess!! Good news is it works fine with my Focusrite interface on the laptop. I ended up just removing Mixbus off the desktop out of pure frustration.

I wonder if that is doable: route multi-channel audio from Sonar to another application e.g. track and mix channels to bus stems in Sonar, but instead of bouncing-exporting-importing stems to Mixbus, chain the 2 applications dynamically so that Mixbus picks up the audio channels of the Sonar stems and acts as summing box (plus EQ, compression, tape saturation).

Basically something like you can to with MIDI using these virtual MIDI port tools ... but I think AISO doesn't like something like this, does it?

If your audio interface has the flexibility in routing that you need you could try nonASIO drivers to make the connection.

You probably didn't read my last post. I could now actually make it happen using ASIO drivers.

Are you using Port Audio in Mixbus  for system audio and ASIO for driver when it comes up in the audio dialog box ?
Over here that 's what works the best for me in Windows ...

I'm back
Tonight I was able to use Jack to route Traction 5 into Mixbus 3 .6 ...it all worked much better than I had expected ...
I was only using my little old MacBook so I had to freeze all the Midi/ soft-synths  in Traction ....
I had them both playing in real time and Mixbus worked fantastic as a Tape style recording environment ....
What I found the most interesting was I preferred  this workflow of listening as it plays to dial it in over just sending out stems ....got much better results doing it this way .....Yeah I'm gonna dig deeper into Jack ....
