If you knew how few people actually attend church here, you would realize what a huge financial outlay a Yamaha C5 is for them, maybe they will get it back through wedding photos and concerts, at least that what some are speculating.

Is definitely a market there, as well as schools, especially in rural areas where there is no concert halls and the church and school halls are the only real music entertainment venues with room to store a grand piano.  The local bars and hotels dont have the space, and the sporting venues are full of sporting gear.

So is probably the only real market in rural areas, beside music students, piano teachers and a few moonlighting musicians.

Its not just in the US, one of the local churches here recently purchased a Yamaha C5 grand, and I am in small rural town that pushes the boundaries of being a city.

We think it was an attempt to draw interest back into the church, as church's here were very stiff dry places for most of my life, the sort of place you avoided as they were so miserably boring.

Same here, yet no new pianos are brought in, as churches are changed into condominiums and hotels

KamikazeIt;s funny, I was just watching the homerecordingrevolution youtube video and mentioned a piece for church. I watch a lot of videos on chord voicing, or drum technique to help my midi recording, and so many times they'll talk about a when playing in church. It made me realise how many musicians in the US are church players or goers. So see what you mean, that must be a massive market.

I can't imagine a British person talking about church on a youtube video, unless they were talking about classical playing.

Many churches across the world have gone contemporary. Hillsong in Australia set the standard that every contemporary church in America tries to meet now. Hillsong United is actually a world arena/stadium touring group now. This is what their show looks like: https://youtu.be/M-3s78M4jv0 and what everyone tries to mimic.

It's a multi-billion dollar industry for music companies and people like Peter James of Hillsong United have become some of the most respected patch designers. In fact, the largest Omnisphere Facebook group is called Omnisphere Worship Sounds and is run by my friend Jason Ray Schoepfer who is also a very respected sound designer. It's a massive worldwide market indeed... no pun intended. Well, maybe a little. ;)

Does this make Omnisphere both omnipresent and omnipotent?

I think Omnisphere would be an awesome instrument for funerals. Don't laugh, it's a thing.

Definitely a thing.

For some reason the instrument at funeral comment got me thinking about the Blues Brothers movie, took me a while  to workout why, its that Rhodes electric and the herc..

Now I just gotta go watch the bluray version again..

Now this is what I'd call "hyper-realistic" sound!

The level of detail and clarity of these instruments puts everything else I've heard to shame. At least, I haven't heard better sampled keyboard sounds from a YT video. And seeing all these master musicians playing them was a real treat. Congrats to Eric and his team for a fantastic achievement!

It's not necessarily a must-have for anybody not playing or producing keyboard-centric music. In a dense mix, will the average person notice the difference between the Keyscape Rhodes and, say, Scarbee or Lounge Lizard? Not likely. But if your song features the keys prominently, Keyscape will add a level of realism that will make your track sound much better. Well worth the cost, IMHO.

Cheers
Eddie

I have been searching (hoping) for the E model Rhodes for many years. For me, this alone is worth the price of admission. Let alone the vast and varied library that comes with Keyscape. YMMV.
