  • 2 FlyOut EQs but they overlap... (p.2)

Chuck,

Space is an issue... but with the FFTs in the EQs, when trying to EQ a Kick Drum and a Bass together, it might be really handy. Plus, because they are easy to use with touch, it would be totally fun to have both up side by side and tweak them. The only way I can see to do this is to take a lot of time adding tracks between the two tracks I want to put side by side so that they happen to not overlap.

Frankly, on a 20pt touch screen, one person could work one EQ while another person works the other one.

:-)

Can you agree it might be useful?

That's kind of annoying, but I guess if you could move them around then it wouldn't be a "flyout,"

keep telling yourself how annoying it is until you download it
this thing is sweet, with the built in analyzer it makes adjustments way to easy, you can see everything now.
lov'in this.

Possible solution: flyout one of the EQ's from the Inspector and another from the Console. You could undock the Inspector and position it in a location where both EQ's would fit. Or keep the Inspector docked on the left and scroll the console until the second EQ is in an appropriate position.

Their is even further weirdness if you FlyOut the EQ, lock it, then slide the divider for the console view. After doing so, the EQ window is no longer pointing to the right track and it is still not moveable.

There is enough screen real estate to side by side two of the EQs.

I'm thinking that having a two people operating the two EQs at the same time would NOT work because when you click on one of the EQs the focus changes to that EQ. I don't think it would be possible to have the focus on both at the same time (like you have for all the strips in the console. Two people can totally work the console together.

Oh believe me I'm not disputing the awesomeness of the flyout EQ, I saw it in action yesterday at the show. But in terms of comparing two side by side, it is kind of annoying. Not that I'm one to moan about something before I've even downloaded it

you have a good idea there yes.
I do most of my eq'ing right in the box(on the PC in console view) so this really opens it up for me to fine tune and most importantly, analyze.
I don't use touch but I could see how this could be a joy with touch.

Sharke,

I think you nailed it.

It's not perfect... but it's way better than what I was getting before your suggestion of the floatable Inspector.

Sharke,
they are very large, I think they were made for a wife open view and not a compact mode though like the pc already has.
this is for fine tuning.
you can already do that with the compact modules, this gives us a chance to open it up and fine tune to the smallest increment's.

if you take the screen shot that he just posted and right click it /select properties/copy the URL and paste it in your browser bar, this will give you a full screen view, you'll get an idea how big they really are.

Yeah I saw them yesterday, they kind of remind me of the stock Logic EQ (but nicer), especially with the spectrum analysis. Actually that spectrum display is probably the best reason to be able to compare two EQ's side by side because you can see where each of their heaviest frequency activity is (and where they're clashing). I can already do this more effectively with MMultiAnalyzer but it would be nice to be able to compare two track's spectrums side by side in real time with the PC EQ's.
